The Army’s 32nd Infantry Division reported on the 18th that they had conducted a two-day training exercise in response to the severe security threats posed by recent provocations from North Korea. This exercise included camp extension and establishment training using various assets, protection training for important facilities, and movement training for reserve command posts.
The training, conducted as part of the winter training, began with issuing a defensive readiness posture in preparation for a full-scale war.
A situation was given where the enemy attacked the Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam regions with missiles and nuclear and weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Various scenarios were given, such as enemies’ attempts of a surprise landing in the coastal area and terrorizing crucial facilities of the nation.
The division’s soldiers installed a wire fence at the coastal landing point and poured firepower to annihilate the enemy. The unit’s combat staff operated the Thermal Observation Device (TOD), the integrated platform of the Smart City equipped with cooperation from related organizations, and the surveillance drone in an integrated manner to visualize the battlefield from the command and control room and quickly and accurately deliver commands.
Kim Tae Han (Lieutenant Colonel), Integrated Defense Operations Staff, said, “Through training like actual combat, we will do our best to establish a decisive posture so that we can retaliate immediately, strongly, and to the end no matter how the enemy provokes.”
About 2,500 soldiers and 160 pieces of equipment participated in the division’s winter training, which was held from the 15th to the 19th. Reporter Jo Su-yeon
