The Labor Newspaper reported on the 23rd that Choe Ryong Hae, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea, had conducted a local survey at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Joint Venture.

Choe emphasized that “the company will firmly establish the foundation for producing iron and will unconditionally seize the steel production target set by the party by examining the status of the construction of an energy-efficient oxygen thermal furnace and the establishment of a ferroalloy production process.”

Furthermore, he urged “to constantly update the Science and Technology Dissemination Office database so that executives, technicians, and workers can obtain specialized knowledge suitable for factories and occupations in accordance with the requirements of the information age and to equip an integrated production system.”

“At the local consultation, issues such as the successful completion of the maintenance and reinforcement project as well as the smooth supply of steel materials demanded in various sectors were discussed to devise measures,” the newspaper reported.

At the end of the previous year, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Joint Venture constructed and put into service an energy-efficient oxygen thermal furnace.
