On the 31st, President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized, “Prepare a detailed contingency plan for the possibility of North Korea’s multifaceted provocation,” and “We must crush North Korea’s will to provoke through overwhelming response.”

That afternoon, President Yoon directly presided over the key military commander’s meeting at the Yeongbingwan Hall in the Blue House. It’s the second time since July 2022 that the president has presided over a key military commander’s meeting.

The key military commanders’ meeting was planned to encourage commanders who are dedicated to national defense in various places before and after the war as the Commander-in-Chief and to check and strengthen the military readiness stance so that the people can devote themselves to their livelihoods with peace of mind in a serious security situation. President Yoon checked the joint security response posture of the civil, government, and military sectors by presiding over the 57th Central Integrated Defense Meeting in the morning of that day.

At the commander’s meeting, President Yoon conducted a report on military readiness posture for each possible provocation type related to North Korean provocation, such as cyber-attacks, drone infiltration, provocation in the northwestern island border area, and disruption in the rear, and subsequent discussions.

President Yoon said, “Our belief in freedom, democracy, and the market economy system is national security,” and asked, “In a situation where North Korea is defining us as a warring country and an enemy and is trying to create public anxiety and divide public opinion, please make efforts so that our soldiers can arm themselves with a strong national view and security view.”

Furthermore, President Yoon ordered, “Please thoroughly prepare for the possibility of disruption activities aimed at our national key facilities, such as the spread of false information and fake news, in the situation ahead of this year’s general election.”

President Yoon said, “Strong national defense and readiness are the core entities that can prevent North Korea from disrupting the Republic of Korea,” and said, “Our military must become one and focus on protecting the people and national defense.”

In addition, President Yoon conveyed his gratitude to the soldiers and commanders dedicated to their duties without disruption, even in the middle of winter.

The meeting was attended by Shin Won Sik, Minister of National Defense, Kim Myung-soo, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and key military officers.
