A disturbance occurred early this morning (5th) when about 20 taxis attempted to enter the presidential residence.
MBN exclusively reported this news.
According to media reports, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul has initiated an investigation into the repeated attempts by taxis to enter the presidential residence, treating it as a case of obstruction of business.
The story goes like this: from about 2:30 a.m. to 4:20 a.m., approximately 20 taxis tried to enter the presidential residence at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes but were stopped by the police on duty.
All the taxi drivers stated, “We followed the navigation instructions according to the caller’s location.”
Upon investigation, it was found that the caller used the same contact number to call a taxi to a location about 20 meters (approximately 66 feet) away from the residence. However, it was reported that the caller’s phone number did not exist.
A police official reportedly told the media, “We have strengthened the guard of the 202nd Guard Unit, which guards the residence, and have completed measures to block access to taxis.”
Meanwhile, on the 29th of last month, an accident occurred where a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) crashed into the guard post of the Russian Embassy in Korea. A police officer guarding the post was severely injured in the accident.
According to the fire department and other authorities, at around 10:10 p.m. the day before, an SUV charged toward the guard post in front of the Russian Embassy in Gugi-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The vehicle stopped after crashing into the post.
At that time, the police officer on duty was taken to a hospital with severe neck and shoulder injuries.
Upon investigation, it was found that the SUV driver was not under the influence of alcohol.
The Embassy stated on social media the same day, “This accident did not negatively affect the Russian diplomatic mission and did not threaten the safety of the staff of the Russian Embassy in Korea.”
They also expressed, “We wish the police officer who was injured in a car accident a speedy recovery.”
