With suspicions that a North Korean hacking group hacked into the computer network of the South Korean judiciary, the police have launched a seizure search of the Supreme Court servers.
According to the police and others on the 20th, the Cyber Terror Response Center of the National Police Agency has been conducting a seizure search of the Supreme Court Computer Information Center located in Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, since the 13th.
A police official said, “We conducted a seizure search to secure data to identify the Supreme Court computer network hacking perpetrator and leaked documents.”
Previously, in February last year, the Court Administration Office detected and deleted malware from the judiciary’s computer network. According to the analysis requested by the security specialist company, the malware was similar to what the North Korean hacking group Lazarus mainly uses.
When suspicions were raised that Lazarus leaked data within the judiciary’s computer network, the Court Administration Office announced in December last year that it would investigate with security experts.
