Peugeot Expands Electric Vehicle Lineup
E-5008 Teaser Video Released
Showcasing High-Class Interior
Peugeot is expanding its electric vehicle lineup, with plans to launch the E-408 and E-5008 electric SUVs this year. Peugeot announced it would build a massive electric vehicle lineup, including nine passenger cars and three light commercial vehicles, totaling 12 models.
Peugeot revealed a teaser video of the E-5008 on the 26th, unveiling some of its interior.
While it shares the interior layout with the existing E-3008, it features a more expanded interior space with a seven-seat interior.
The vehicle also includes an improved interior with a panoramic i-Cockpit dashboard.
21-Inch Display Utilized
Spacious Space with Three Rows
The floating 21-inch curved display, which combines the head-up and center screens seen in the E-3008, is tilted toward the driver for maximum visibility. The steering wheel features a flat-top and bottom D-cut design. The bottom of the screen is decorated with ambient LED lighting.
Physical buttons on the center fascia are replaced with a touch-sensitive panel.
Extending the length from the same STAL medium platform as the Peugeot 3008 compact crossover provides a spacious third-row space. The E-5008 offers both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations, and its size is comparable to a mid-size SUV like the Santa Fe.
Offering Two Types of Trims
98 kWh Battery Capacity
It will be launched with various powertrains, from pure electric powertrains to hybrids and plug-in hybrids. The electric powertrain is offered in one less trim than the E-3008, and the single motor specification, which delivers a maximum output of 213 horsepower and a maximum torque of 157 kW, is equipped with a 73 kWh battery.
As it shares the same platform as the E-3008, a long-range version is expected to be launched. The E-3008 Electric 230 long-range version is upgraded with a 98 kWh high-capacity battery, allowing it to travel up to 435 miles on a full charge. The long-range version of the E-5008 is also expected to have the same capacity battery, but the driving distance may be slightly reduced due to the larger body.
Maximum Output of 230 Horsepower
What About the Exterior Design?
The long-range version has a higher-specification motor, delivering a maximum output of 230 horsepower and a maximum torque of 170 kW. While the E-3008 has a dual motor specification, it is known that the E-5008 has excluded the dual motor specification with a motor mounted on the rear to save rear space. The single motor specification operates with the motor mounted on the front wheel drive.
While the detailed exterior has not been revealed, the outline is somewhat revealed as spy shots have been captured several times. The application of Peugeot’s signature grill is expected, and the taillights feature a pattern of three fang-shaped lights. Some design elements, such as the sleek headlights, can be glimpsed. The body’s rear is more extended than the 3008, and the roofline is elevated. As the body size grows, it is expected to provide ample three-row and trunk spaces.
