Tesla’s new vehicle, Cybertruck, is in high demand
But it’s plagued with severe defects
News about the Tesla Cybertruck pops up every day. While real-life accidents prove positive reports about the vehicle’s durability, there are also significant issues. Despite these problems, the vehicle remains popular, with used car prices recently soaring to more than double the cost of new ones.
Cybertruck owners may be the envy of many, but some are struggling with serious defects. The driver assistance system has failed in some cases, and in some cases, the entire vehicle becomes inoperable just a few days after delivery, requiring its placement in the service center.
25 errors in an instant, and transmission issues
Recently, a post appeared on the Cybertruck forum from a user who had received 25 error messages just two days after taking delivery of their vehicle. Carlos Thomas also posted a photo of the infotainment screen displaying the error messages. He said, “Today, on the second day since delivery, the screen started flashing red, displaying a ‘serious error’ message. I couldn’t record the situation then because I had to pull over the vehicle.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Cyberns, shared a similar experience. He discovered the problem while the vehicle was in his garage, so he was able to photograph a pop-up message warning of a steering system error. The message read, “The vehicle may suddenly lose power and steering capability, making it impossible to drive, and cannot be shifted out of P-range.”
Becomes inoperable after just 3 days
The rear-wheel steering system is also problematic
There has also been a case where the vehicle’s power suddenly went out and could not be restored. An anonymous Cybertruck owner said, “I drove it normally for two days, but on the third day, problems arose. The screen went black when I stepped on the brake and tried to reverse.” He could not open the electronic door latch and had to use the manual lever to open the door.
He added, “There was still 40% battery left, so there was no reason for it to be discharged.” He expressed frustration, saying, “The service center is not providing detailed information.” There were also numerous complaints about defects in the rear-wheel steering actuator. Although Tesla has previously released a software update to reduce the turning radius of the rear-wheel steering system, this appears to be a mechanical defect unrelated to that update.
Couldn’t drive for over two weeks
Can’t guarantee repair time
The owner said, “I’ve been able to drive my Cybertruck only for one week out of the month I’ve owned it. I’ve wasted more than twice that time at the service center.” The rear-wheel steering actuator defect could take a significant amount of time to repair free of charge, as parts are hard to come by. The advice to wait at least a year after a new car is released before buying it seems universally applicable.
