The newly released E-Class in the Korean market
Features a design that has sparked controversy
What would it be like if the design were applied to the new GLE?
Recently, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class was launched in the Korean market. When this new car was unveiled, the public’s reaction was more divided than ever. Even though the headlamp, which pays homage to the 7th and 8th generation designs, is acceptable, the triangular star pattern that fills the grill and the somewhat excessive graphics of the triangular star in the taillight continue to garner reactions.
So, what would it be like if the design were applied to the GLE, a midsize SUV, for a family? Let’s look at the prediction image of the next-generation GLE Class, created by car rendering specialist AutoYa.
Complete change is still far away
However, AMG line prediction emerges
The GLE Class, developed as a successor to the M-Class, is currently marketed as a 4th generation model. Since it underwent a facelift in January last year, there is still time for a complete change. AutoYa predicts that the next-generation GLE will be launched around 2026 at the earliest. It remains to be seen whether the front and rear design of the E-Class will be adopted as a family look, but if it happens, it might require a long adjustment period.
Looking at the front, the DRL is applied in one line at the top, and two lines at the bottom, and the dynamic front bumper stands out. Apart from the unique wheel arch shape of the GLE Class, which is similar to the E-Class Avantgarde, it’s hard to find any differences. The black-painted wheels and side mirrors indicate that this model is an AMG line.
Emphasizing sportiness in the rear
E-Class elements are directly incorporated
The rear part is distinctly different. The side glass connected to the tailgate has been applied as it is, and the design elements of the E-Class have been applied to the taillights and rear bumper. The triangular star tail light graphics, which were at the center of controversy, still attract attention, and the garnish connecting the two tail lights is finished in chrome instead of black high gloss. The taillight spacing is closer than the E-Class, which may feel awkward. The side vents that discharge the air in the wheelhouse are larger, emphasizing sportiness along with the rear diffuser. The tailpipe ends, tilted inward, are finished with chrome borders, adding a luxurious touch.
One thing remains unchanged inside
What are the reactions of netizens at home and abroad?
The interior prediction was also released. Unlike the exterior, a basic steering wheel is applied instead of the AMG line. The existing panoramic display has been replaced with a super screen like the E-Class, adding a touch of sophistication. The center console’s touchpad and buttons for controlling the infotainment system have been integrated into the center display. However, the handles on both sides of the center console remain. This can be seen as the identity of an SUV, considering off-road driving.
