The Hyundai Palisade, a midsize SUV, continues to enjoy unrivaled popularity. It is currently considered the most spacious model among domestically produced internal combustion engine SUVs sold domestically. It can accommodate up to eight passengers, and the third-row seats are comfortable enough for adults to ride without significant issues.

The full-change Palisade, expected to be released early next year, is anticipated to boast a much larger size and a spacious interior. Recently, prototypes undergoing road tests have been frequently spotted, and the second-row seats have also been captured, attracting attention.

New Yet Familiar Interior
Feels Like Santa Fe + Ioniq 9

Let’s first look at the first-row seats. Although it’s an entirely new car, familiar elements can be found throughout. The 3-spoke steering wheel shares a design with the Santa Fe. The bright interior materials, rounded door trim button garnish, and large center console focused on storage functionality remind us of the Ioniq 9 prototype.

Meanwhile, unique elements of the new Palisade have been confirmed. A panoramic curved display has been applied, but the dashboard that wraps around it differs from other Hyundai cars. The auto-hold button and driving mode selection switch are installed where the ignition button is usually located. The column-type gear selector has a unique shape that seems to be considered the ideal grip.

7-Seater Independent Seat Specification
Doesn’t Seem to Have a Bi-Directional Console

The wheelbase is expected to have increased as it’s being developed based on a new platform. Compared to the current model, the boxier body is also a change that suggests an increase in interior space. The second-row legroom appears to have significantly expanded. With independent seats applied, this prototype is estimated to have a 2+2+3 seat arrangement, accommodating seven passengers.

Each seat has an armrest applied, and air vents are located in the rear of the center console and the ceiling. However, it doesn’t seem like a bi-directional multi-console that can be opened from the rear seats, like the Santa Fe or Ioniq 9, has been applied. There’s no drawer-type additional storage space under the center console, but it appears to have a structure that can store simple personal items.

8-Seater Specification to Be Maintained
Hybrid Will Be Added

The left side of the second row features a two-tone color and mass-produced door trim with a speaker, which is different from the right side. The round door handle shares a design element similar to the Ioniq 9. The flat floor enhances the quality of the dwelling and the ease of getting in and out of the car. An 8-seater specification, including a second-row bench seat, is expected to be maintained just like the current model.

Meanwhile, the next-generation Palisade will have a new hybrid system based on a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine. It’s anticipated to deliver a powerful performance of over 300 horsepower and fuel efficiency similar to a 1.6L turbo hybrid. The diesel specification will likely be discontinued, like the Santa Fe, and a 3.5L V6 gasoline engine option may be available.
