Kia Sportage is a popular SUV in South Korea and is even known as the representative vehicle. Many people have loved this model because it is accessible at a relatively low price and is evaluated as having excellent marketability for its price.
Kia has been preparing to launch the Sportage facelift version, and recently, spy shots of a test vehicle being tested in South Korea were captured, raising consumer expectations. It is difficult to confirm the detailed design as a camouflage membrane surrounds it, but it is a hot topic because there is a realistic rendering based on it.
Star Map signature DRL and vertical headlights
New York Mammoth, a YouTuber specializing in renderings for new cars in Korea, has unveiled a rendering created based on spy shots of a test vehicle that was recently captured. As changes near the redesigned version are expected, design changes were made in various areas, such as the fender, bonnet line, and grill. In the case of the front, Kia’s star map signature lighting was applied to create a family look similar to other Kia models. In the case of the headlamp, it is a vertical type that emphasizes verticality.
The existing Sportage was designed with the front fender line extending to the inside of the headlamp box. The new Sportage was designed to naturally match the line of the Star Map signature DRL by reducing the size of the protruding part of the side front fender line.
DRL Bent Downward
The DRL is designed to fit the grille line by bending downward rather than horizontally, like the Kia Carnival and Sorento. A new grille design will be applied to match the changed headlamps. The bumper design does not change significantly, but a small angular garnish shaped like an air intake was added to create a sporty look.
Looking at the captured test vehicle, only some detailed changes will be made to the rear part. Instead of the boomerang-shaped design applied to the existing Sportage’s front and rear lamps, a family look that emphasizes vertical and horizontal shapes is applied.
The latest features and an expected launch as early as the end of this year
The new Sportage is expected to be equipped with various latest systems such as ccNC, wireless software update, head-up display, and digital key 2. As for the powertrain, the 1.6 gasoline turbo, 2.0 diesel, and 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid installed in the existing model will continue to be maintained. The Sportage facelift, featuring Kia’s latest design, is scheduled to be launched at the end of this year.
