A young woman confessed that she had not worn underwear for four years.
Recently, a young woman went viral on Dcard, Taiwan’s largest anonymous online youth forum, by sharing her experience of going commando for four years and feeling healthier.
The author stated, “I changed my habit to get used to not wearing underwear due to poor vaginal health. I started wearing skirts more often than pants and only wore underwear during my period.”
“My health has improved remarkably, and the itching has disappeared, so I no longer need to see a doctor,” she added.
In response, the China Times confirmed the truth of her claim through an interview with a doctor.
The Taipei Show Chwan Hospital’s director confirmed the woman’s claim, saying, “It’s true. Due to hot and humid weather, there’s a risk of bacterial fungus developing inside a woman’s underwear.”
The director noted that, according to the woman’s testimony, not wearing underwear might facilitate ventilation of the reproductive organs, which could lead to improved health and offer protection against diseases affecting women.
“Even if you don’t go commando, avoid wearing tight jeans or non-breathable silk underwear. Allowing as much air circulation as possible can contribute to healthier bodies,” he added.
He also advised that it is preferable to wear underwear during menstruation, ovulation, or after recent sexual intercourse due to the potential presence of blood or secretions.
