Volkswagen has unveiled the facelifted Jetta and Jetta GLI. This is the second facelift model to be introduced about two and a half years after the first facelift model was launched at the end of 2021. Jetta has recorded steady sales since its launch at a reasonable price of $22,660.

They have been a popular choice because they can be purchased at relatively low prices, especially among young people. With this second facelift, the Jetta is expected to target the leading consumer group in their 20s and 30s with a sportier sensibility.

Sharper headlamps and thinner front grille design

The new Jetta features significant changes to its front design that are noticeable at first glance. The previously thick hexagonal headlamps have been slimmed down with more refined lines. Notably, consumers had criticized the prior model for the headlamps’ sharp extension towards the sides, which they found excessive. This design aspect has been addressed in the latest version.

In the redesigned Jetta, the lines of the headlamp and grille now meet, creating a continuous line that spans the entire width of the front. The sharp angle of the headlamp extending to the side front fender has been preserved. The previously thick grille has been slimmed down. The change from a bulky grille to a sleek, horizontal shape gives the new Jetta a cleaner, more refined appearance.

More aggressive bumper grille
Horizontal taillights applied

However, the bumper grille has become more aggressive. The Jetta’s bumper line, which previously emphasized a volume, streamlined line, has been changed to an angular line in the new Jetta. In the case of the larger bumper grille, it extends along the entire width. A design is applied here, and the bumper grille is divided into three parts through the body panel. Even the body panels that divide the bumper grille have sharpened ends, making it look more aggressive than before.

For the rear, horizontal tail lamps have been introduced, maintaining the shape of the previous Jetta’s side tail lamps. This horizontal design, mirroring the front, emphasizes the car’s overall width. The bumper retains the previous model’s design, featuring a ㄷ shaped chrome garnish as a decorative highlight.

Equipped with an 8.0-inch display
Price starts from about $23,295

The interior features an 8.0-inch infotainment display, expanded from 6.5 inches. The physical buttons have been minimized, and Volkswagen’s latest specifications, such as the sliding method, have been applied. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two-tone artificial leather seats, and a smartphone wireless charging pad are also standard on the lower trims.

Safety and convenience specifications have also been strengthened. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision warning are supported. The same 1.5 4-cylinder turbo is used in the powertrain as the existing model. Volkswagen’s new Jetta is priced at $23,295, a slight increase from the previous model’s price.
