Hello, I’m designer ‘Inae’ who expresses my values through design work. I showcase home styling through my YouTube channel as a hobby.

Today, I would like to introduce the industrial-style studio that I personally decorated. I hope everyone enjoys it.

This house was the room where the previous tenant lived for almost 10 years. As you can see in the photos, it was ancient and torn. The landlord only repainted and replaced the flooring, so I changed and filled everything else.

| Prefer newly constructed villas

I prefer newly constructed villas with spacious space for the price, interesting room structures, and allowing me to decorate the area more freely in consultation with the landlord. So, this studio apartment also came with the ability to install lighting in consultation with the landlord freely.

One day, when I was decorating my house with self-interior, the person downstairs said they could hear my voice very well at midnight. It turned out that although the sound insulation between the villa’s walls was good, the ceiling and floor were thin, so the voice resonated well. Since that day, I have been laying soundproofing materials under the desk, covering the room with various rugs, and wearing slippers.

Since then, I have become interested in various soundproofing materials. It also gave me a lot of inspiration for my desk decoration and space separation. I will introduce my desk space again from below.

| Extreme Vertical Space Separation

I prefer to utilize vertical space for space separation. So, I separated the space using a custom-made bunk bed for the bedroom, and I personally designed and installed the rest of the space to create the structure.

I also used various lighting for each point to ensure no dead spaces. As a result, my current maximalist house has a space utilization rate of 300%.

Exploring the Space

| Living Room

The first room I’ll introduce is the living room with a couch and bar table. This is where I spend most of my free time, whether relaxing or drinking.

The central spot in the living room is the green velvet-covered sofa and the wall above it. I hung postcards and fabric curtains over the deep-toned couch so anyone who sees this place can instantly feel the style and atmosphere I aimed for.

On the opposite side of the living room is the bar table. Thanks to that, it gives the feeling of visiting a bar, and the various height levels of the shelves make it look more industrial in style.

| Kitchen

Next, I will show you the kitchen. The concept here is to create a vibrant and lively space even when not eating. I decorated it by combining various props, lighting, and interior items.

As you may have noticed, our kitchen is unusual because we use a bunk bed as a kitchen, and we use the first floor of the bed as a kitchen and the second floor as a bedroom. This space utilization is difficult to find in a single-story Korean apartment. Of course, it was also possible because we rarely cook at home.

| Bedroom

Next, I will show you the second floor of the bunk bed. This is the bedroom space I use. I wanted to maximize the space using the bunk bed.

Since the bedroom is where you need to get a good night’s sleep, I hung the leftover blinds from the previous interior. Thanks to this, the light from the bed mood does not escape outside, emphasizing the “unique atmosphere of the bedroom” in the interior. Personally, I think the bedroom is my own cozy and safe space.

| Desk Space

I DIDN’T NEED A WIDE DESK SPACE HORIZONTALLY since I use various electronic devices and a monitor tablet.

So, my desk space was completed as an independent work booth with a strong vertical element like now. I installed soundproofing materials and deck tiles on the floor to prevent the voice from going downstairs and built a wall next to the desk.

| Dressing Room

I had difficulty organizing pants storage because all my clothes were black. Even though they are the same color, the feeling changes depending on the material, length, and thickness, so it was difficult to categorize them in detail. I also tried using various pants hangers, but no matter how good the product is, I always search the entire wardrobe from start to finish when looking for clothes.

Then, I saw a plastic box for storing tools and thought, ‘This is it.’ I can stack several boxes, and since it’s an open type, it’s easy to organize and find things. I put pants in each box, distinguishing them by silhouette or material, and finally felt like I found a place for them. If there are people who, like me, prefer solid colors or specific materials, I recommend this organizing method.

In the dressing room, I focused on not disrupting the interior when storing clothes. Since I aim for an industrial atmosphere overall, I used iron frames and parts to fix pipes at construction sites to hang the clothes. Thanks to this, the rustic feeling is enhanced.

To me, a home is a space that embraces me completely, no matter what kind of life or form I live. What does home mean to you? Whether it exists, in any form or in any way, it is a space that completely embraces me, and only I think of it as my safe haven}. That’s why, based on my deep affection for space, I am trying many things, creating various things, and expanding and deepening my preferences.
