The morning of Saturday, the 25th, will be cold with temperatures dipping below freezing in most areas across the country.

The Meteorological Administration forecasted, “In most regions nationwide, morning temperatures will drop below freezing until tomorrow (26th), and particularly in some inland areas of Gyeongsang where a cold wave warning has been issued, the morning temperature will drop by more than 10 degrees Celsius (18 degrees Fahrenheit) compared to the previous day, making it chilly.”

Even during the day, temperatures will stay below 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit) mainly in the central inland, which is lower than the average (-3~6 degrees Celsius/26.6~42.8 degrees Fahrenheit for the lowest temperature, 8~15 degrees Celsius/46.4~59 degrees Fahrenheit for the highest temperature).

The lowest morning temperature will range from -10 to 1 degree Celsius (14 to 33.8 degrees Fahrenheit), and the highest daytime temperature will range from 2 to 10 degrees Celsius (35.6 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit).

The lowest morning temperatures in major areas are -6 degrees Celsius (21.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Seoul, -5 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit) in Incheon, -6 degrees Celsius (21.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Suwon, -8 degrees Celsius (17.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Chuncheon, -3 degrees Celsius (26.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Gangneung, -4 degrees Celsius (24.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in Cheongju, -6 degrees Celsius (21.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Daejeon, -3 degrees Celsius (26.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Jeonju, -2 degrees Celsius (28.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in Gwangju, -3 degrees Celsius (26.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Daegu, -1 degree Celsius (30.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Busan, and 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit) in Jeju.

The highest daytime temperatures are 4 degrees Celsius (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Seoul, 2 degrees Celsius (35.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Incheon, 4 degrees Celsius (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Suwon, 4 degrees Celsius (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in Chuncheon, 7 degrees Celsius (44.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Gangneung, 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit) in Cheongju, 6 degrees Celsius (42.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in Daejeon, 6 degrees Celsius (42.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in Jeonju, 8 degrees Celsius (46.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in Gwangju, 8 degrees Celsius (46.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in Daegu, 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) in Busan, and 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) in Jeju.{vi38}

A dry weather warning has been issued, and the atmosphere will be very dry for the time being, centered around Yeongdong in Gangwon Province, the mountainous area in the northeastern part of Gyeongbuk, and the east coast of Gyeongsang Province.

Until tonight, strong winds of 8~20 m/s will blow in the southern sea of the west coast, the far sea of the south coast, the far sea on the east coast, the sea in front of the east coast, and the sea around Jeju Island, and the waves will be very high at 1.5~4 m (4.9~13.1 ft).

Until tomorrow, there will be places where high waves caused by swells will exceed breakwaters or coastal roads on the east coast.

Fine dust is expected to be ‘good’ nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.

Meanwhile, many people are taking out their cold-weather gear due to the sudden cold weather. At times like this, you should be careful of toenail and fingernail fungus. Fungus is commonly thought to be contracted during the hot and humid summer, but fungus can reproduce regardless of the season. Fungus is a skin disease caused by mold, and it grows well in moisture. In winter, wearing thick socks, boots, gloves, etc. for a long time creates an environment conducive to the growth of mold due to poor ventilation and moisture.

If fungus occurs, symptoms such as ▲roughness on the surface of the nails, ▲cracked nails, ▲whitish flaking, ▲thickening of the nails, and ▲discoloration of the nails appear. The more severe the symptoms, the harder it is to cure, so it is good to treat it right away even if symptoms appear on only a part of the nails. If the infected area of the fungus is less than 50% of the total nails, it can be treated with a dedicated drug sold at pharmacies. However, if the damage is severe, the nails must be removed under local anesthesia, then apply ointment and wait for the nails to grow back.

To prevent winter fungus, cleanliness is important first. When washing your feet, you should wash between your toes where ventilation is poor with soap. After that, it is good to make sure there is no moisture left. If you sweat a lot on your feet, apply powder to keep it dry. Also, you should frequently take off your thick shoes and ventilate them. It is good to take off your shoes or change to slippers indoors such as in the office. In addition, it is better to wear several shoes alternately rather than wearing one pair of shoes for a long time. Shoes that have been worn may have fungus growing inside, so they should be regularly dried in the sun or sprayed with disinfectant spray and dried upside down. It is also a good idea to put crumpled newspaper or a dedicated dehumidifier in the boots.
