During the cold season, warm drinks tend to be popular. Naturally, coffee-based beverages are the go-to warm menu items at most cafe franchises. However recently, another warm drink has been gaining popularity – the ‘Vin Chaud’. More and more franchises are introducing this drink with its mesmerizing color and consumers are actively enjoying it. Let’s take a look at some of the Vin Chaud menus that have been launched recently.
Vin Chaud
Vin Chaud in French means ‘warm wine’. It is a beverage made with wine as the base along with various fruits and spices such as cinnamon and is boiled. The boiling process evaporates the alcohol in the wine turning it into a drink that anyone regardless of age or gender can enjoy. In Europe, Vin Chaud is mainly consumed during the cold winter months to keep the body warm and prevent colds similar to the consumption pattern of ‘Ssanghwa tea’ in Korea.
Starbucks Korea has launched a new ‘Christmas Ruby Vin Chaud’. This non-alcoholic beverage features a Cabernet Sauvignon wine extract boasting a fragrant wine aroma and the sweet flavor of fruits. It comes with a pouch filled with spices that add a spicy flavor such as cinnamon, cloves, and star anise, and various fruits, allowing you to steep it to your desired strength. The price for a tall size is 6,500 won ($5.48).
Tous Les Jours ‘Winter Favorite Vin Chaud’
The cafe franchise Tous Les Jours is selling a non-alcoholic beverage called ‘Winter Favorite Vin Chaud’, which was created using their recipe. This beverage which was first launched in 2015 is released every season. It captures the fresh yet deep flavor of red wine and can be enjoyed either warm or chilled for a refreshing taste. This menu recently surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 2.8 million cups. The price for a regular size is 6,300 won ($5.31).
Bakery ‘Vin Chaud’
The cafe franchise Bakery also introduced Vin Chaud as a seasonal menu item. It is a beverage with a sweet and sour taste and a deep cinnamon flavor. The product comes with a cinnamon stick which if steeped for about 5 minutes allows you to enjoy a deeper flavor. You can also order it as a hot drink or enjoy it as an iced Vin Chaud. The serving size for a hot drink is about 12 fluid ounces. The price for both hot and iced versions is the same 3,800 won ($3.20).
Mega MGC Coffee ‘White Vin Chaud’
The cafe franchise Mega MGC Coffee has launched a new ‘White Vin Chaud’. This is a reinterpretation of the popular winter beverage Vin Chaud featuring Mega MGC Coffee’s unique taste and visuals. It offers a high vitamin C content and a sweet yet slightly bitter taste made with a variety of fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, pomegranates, white grapes, and apples. They also introduced Snow Sangria Aid which allows you to enjoy Vin Chaud as a cool aid. The in-store selling price of White Vin Chaud is 3,900 won ($3.29).
Coffee Bean ‘Wintery Mulberry Vin Chaud’
Coffee Bean Korea has launched a new Vin Chaud menu using mulberries. It’s called ‘Wintery Mulberry Vin Chaud’. This limited seasonal menu uses domestic mulberries which have a sweet and sour charm. It’s a non-alcoholic beverage that infuses a rich wine aroma into a subtle wintery ginger tea. It’s topped with oranges, apples, and a cinnamon stick, making it a drink that can be enjoyed visually as well. The in-store selling price of this menu at Coffee Bean is 7,300 won ($6.16) for a regular size.
Venti Espresso ‘Vin Chaud & Sangria’
The cafe franchise brand Venti Espresso has launched ‘Vin Chaud’ and ‘Sangria’ as special seasonal menus. The non-alcoholic beverage ‘Vin Chaud’ is made with red wine, fresh lemon, and sweet cinnamon, while ‘Sangria’ is a non-alcoholic beverage that combines the flavor of red wine with the freshness of lemon and carbonation. They also offer ‘Sweet Vin Chaud’ which adds sweet apple syrup and twice the amount of lemon to Vin Chaud and ‘Sweet Sangria’ which adds apple syrup, lemon, and blueberries to Sangria. The price of the signature menu Vin Chaud is 4,500 won ($3.79).
Dunkin’ ‘White Vin Chaud’
SPC BiAl Korea’s doughnut franchise brand Dunkin has relaunched two products, ‘White Vin Chaud’ and ‘Iced White Vin Chaud’ as seasonal limited menus. White Vin Chaud is a reinterpretation of Vin Chaud a representative winter beverage in Europe that is boiled with fruit and cinnamon in win, in Dunkin’s style. Through this renewal, they have blended Moscato concentrate and fresh fruit harmoniously allowing you to better feel the rich taste and aroma. The price is 4,900 won ($4.13).
Jamba Juice ‘Omija Vin Chaud’
The lifestyle brand Jamba Juice has launched a Vin Chaud beverage using Omija as a seasonal drink. This new product, ‘Omija Vin Chaud’ is made with a sour-sweet Omija base, a winter fruit punch tea with an apple and grape flavor, fruit toppings, and a cinnamon stick. Jamba Juice has introduced this product with the concept of ‘Merry Omija, Healthy Winter’, using real Omija from the Mungyeong region. The in-store selling price for a regular size is 7,200 won ($6.07).
Poke All Day ‘Purple Vin Chaud’
The Poke franchise Poke All Day operated by Neo F&B Co., Ltd., has launched ‘Purple Vin Chaud’ as a new menu item. It is a non-alcoholic beverage that blends the romantic color of domestic grapes with a base and various toppings. Along with this, they have also launched the ‘Rose Pasta Salmon Steak Poke’ which applies their best-topping salmon as a warm topping and uses a special seasonal sauce rose sauce. The in-store selling price of Purple Vin Chaud is 4,500 won ($3.79).
