Exploring the Beauty of Perth, Australia

Eugene Park Views

Australia, famous for its vast land area, boasts many charming cities besides Sydney and Melbourne. Let me recommend one.

Perth, located in the west of Australia, is a city where ‘urban and nature harmoniously coexist’. You will want to come back once you visit. Let’s introduce a walking tour of downtown Perth where you can create beautiful memories while exploring various places.

01 St. Mary’s Cathedral

Here is a cathedral with a uniquely attractive cathedral with a stylish interior and an antique exterior contrast. St. Mary’s Cathedral is a Gothic-style church with a bell tower that opened its doors in 1865. They carried out renovations for over 150 years since 1865, and various elements were added as the construction progressed over a long period.

Natural light gathers in the center of the cathedral through its wide glass, and the use of marble creates a brighter and more modern look compared to European cathedrals. Also, when you step into the cathedral, you can appreciate the emphasized symmetry of the interior and the arch structure. Admission to the cathedral is free.

02 Lotterywest Federation Walkway

Let’s enjoy the convergence of nature and the city by walking on trees. A beautiful walkway appears if you head to King’s Park through Perth’s ‘hot spot’, the Bell Tower and Elizabeth Quay. This 2033-feet long walkway is also famous as a place where you ‘walk among the tops of rubber trees’. This curved bridge made of steel and glass, floats 170 feet high. You can enjoy the views of downtown Perth, Eliza Mountain, and the distant flowing river. The place is full of nature, so it calms your mind and body. You can also learn about Aboriginal culture and history through the explanatory signboards on this walkway, and see Aboriginal artworks. Admission to the Lotterywest Federation Walkway is free.

03 Fraser Avenue Lookout

Next, let’s enjoy an even more magnificent view. This place, which you’ll encounter after passing the Lotterywest Federation Walkway, is called the ‘best view of Perth’. You can see the view of downtown Perth where the Swan River flows leisurely, and also the Canning River, Darling Ranges, and Perth Hills at a glance. The greenery, buildings, and the sun create breathtakingly beautiful scenery, especially during the sunrise and afternoon sunset. Not only travelers but also locals take many photos here. Without a doubt, it is the best place to take ‘photos for life’ in Perth, Australia. Admission to the lookout is free.

04 Rusty Fig

It’s time to satisfy your hunger with a melt-in-your-mouth steak. Rusty Fig is a restaurant run by a chef from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The ‘Fig’ in the store’s name means a fig, a plant, not an animal. It was taken from one of Perth’s landmarks, the ‘Port Jackson Fig’. The fig tree, the protagonist of the name, is located right in front of the store. Rusty Fig’s signature menu is veal steak, and it also offers dishes with scallops and lobster and uses truffle mushrooms appropriately. Rusty Fig Restaurant boasts a taste that is not inferior to the stunning view of the city. It opens at 11:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m.

05 Riverside Cafe, Bar & Restaurant

I recommend the best place for a ‘dessert view’. Riverside Cafe, Bar & Restaurant is in front of the Swan River. It’s a great place to have a glass of wine or cocktail, or a beer with fish and chips while looking at the flowing river. It’s also a good time to meditate while looking at the river, a ‘healing water staring’ time.

It also offers necktail drinks that can make you feel better even if you don’t drink. You can enjoy lemon pancakes with coffee by visiting Riverside Cafe, Bar & Restaurant in the morning. The operating hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Perth is also known as the ‘Oasis in the City’ in Australia.

If you visit Australia, we highly recommend discovering the unique charm of Perth, where beautiful nature and sophisticated city coexist.
