Luxury Retreat in the Catskill Mountains: The Chatwal Lodge’s New Tree Houses

① New York’s Luxury Resort

Hyatt

The Chatwal Lodge, a luxurious resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains, is making waves by unveiling its first-ever tree houses, slated to open on the 30th.

These three tree houses hover 15 feet above the canopy of maple and oak trees, offering guests a unique perspective. According to the resort’s architecture and construction manager, the concept behind The Chatwal Lodge’s tree houses is to elevate the simple notion of a ‘room at the top of a tree’ to a realm of luxury.

Each multi-level tree house spans 1,000 square feet and boasts expansive windows that flood the space with natural light and provide stunning views. With a lofty 20-foot ceiling and a 250-square-foot outdoor area featuring a private deck, these accommodations offer a blend of comfort and natural immersion. On the ground level, guests will find a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a well-appointed bathroom, and a living room with a butler station.

An internal staircase seamlessly links each tree house’s upper and lower levels, providing convenient access for up to four guests.

Inside, the tree houses boast Pennsylvania fieldstone floors and custom furnishings sourced from “Restoration Hardware,” contributing to a contemporary ambiance. The bathrooms are outfitted with cherry wood vanities, marble countertops, and spacious showers with panoramic windows offering sweeping views of the surrounding treetops.

② Unveiling of the Three Tree Houses

While the architectural structure of the three tree houses remains consistent, each exudes its distinct ambiance. This individuality is achieved through combining the surrounding natural environment and carefully selected artwork.

Every tree house is adorned with framed artwork showcasing the picturesque landscape of Sullivan County, adding a personalized touch to the interior. Additionally, a one-of-a-kind circular ceramic art piece graces the master bedroom of each tree house, further enhancing its unique personality.

These artworks are crafted from thousands of ceramic coins, meticulously arranged to evoke the image of a full moon against a starry night sky. Nestled within the woods, this hotel draws inspiration from its lush forest surroundings.

Guests staying here can relish daily gourmet meals alongside many outdoor activities, including fly fishing, lake boating, horseback riding, and more.

These activities are not exclusive to guests residing in the new tree houses but are extended to those staying in one of the original 11 hotels.

③ A Place to Stay in the Forest

The Chatwal Lodge, which opened in 2022, is affiliated with The Chatwal in Manhattan as its sister hotel. In February of last year, it joined the Hyatt brand following its acquisition by Hyatt.

Introducing the new tree houses marks just the beginning of a series of enhancements planned for The Chatwal Lodge. Following the tree houses, guests can anticipate a pool and spa-themed tree house unveiling. For further information, interested parties can visit their website.

The Chatwal Lodge has already captured the hearts of many, evoking the ambiance of a luxurious mountain retreat. Renowned as a premier luxury resort, it offers a sanctuary of true relaxation, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Perched overlooking a serene reservoir, the hotel boasts breathtaking views that serve as a captivating backdrop to its charm. With the introduction of the tree houses, anticipation among guests is palpable, stirring curiosity about the unique experiences they will offer compared to the existing accommodations.

In the meantime, glowing reviews from past guests of The Chatwal Lodge reflect their immense satisfaction. One visitor enthused, “It’s the most unique hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The restaurant exceeded my expectations, and the impeccable service left a lasting impression.” Another shared, “My stay here created cherished and romantic memories I will treasure forever.” And yet another exclaimed, “I wish I could give this extraordinary place ten stars!”
