③ Considered Dangerous Food Abroad
Live octopus is an unfamiliar food to foreigners. The wriggling appearance shocks foreigners who avoid raw food. Cephalopods with suction cups wriggle even after death. In our country, we cut live octopus and eat it with seasoning such as sesame oil and seeds.
Last year, British pop star Sam Smith was caught eating live octopus at Gwangjang Market during his visit to Korea. He picked up a live octopus with his own hands and ate it. Star chef Gordon Ramsay stirred the public’s attention by revealing his reaction after tasting live octopus during his trip to Korea. He posted a video of eating a live octopus at Gwangjang Market and left a comment saying, “It feels like it’s still moving in my body,” causing laughter.
In the past, a British newspaper named live octopus the most dangerous food in the world. There is a risk of suffocation when eating live octopus. Because it is slimy, removing it if it gets stuck in your throat is difficult. You must immediately report to 911 to prevent suffocation. When eating live octopus, you should eat it in as small pieces as possible.
