Gimhae is Rapidly Becoming a Cherry Blossom Destination – Here’s Why

As the weather warms up, many people eagerly await cherry blossoms blooming. Numerous domestic cherry blossom hotspots are attracting attention on social media.

Among them, Gaya Land is the most talked-about travel destination on social media. Gimhae is gaining attention as a representative cherry blossom spot where you can ride a sky bicycle through a blossom tunnel. Thanks to its unique feature of being able to appreciate cherry blossoms from the sky, it always attracts many tourists.

Gaya Land is a theme park representing Gimhae, a prominent tourist destination in South Gyeongsang Province, with Angel Park amusement park, a healing-type campground, and children’s food culture experiential education content. Gaya Land’s themes are divided into White Angel, Blue Angel, Black Angel, and Green Angel.

Condol Sky in Blue Angel is a popular experience. People can enjoy the cherry blossom scenery from the sky of Gaya Land by riding a sky bicycle operated by manually pedaling. The ride time varies depending on the speed, taking about 15-20 minutes.

As it’s especially popular in spring, visitors should expect long lines. Since the speed isn’t fast, the waiting time can be extended.

In addition to Gaya Land, there are many places in Gimhae where you can enjoy cherry blossoms. People can rejoice in cherry blossoms in various spots. Yeonji Park is a representative urban park in Gimhae with a large lake in the center of the park, and people can see flowers changing throughout the four seasons along the lake.

In spring, it’s a place where you can appreciate various flowers along with cherry blossoms. Visitors can see cherry blossoms and tulips in one place against the backdrop of the lake. It’s also great to walk along the cherry blossom path and tour Yeonji Park. Although it’s beautiful during the day, you can enjoy spectacular night views.

At Yeonji Park, a fountain show is held in the evening. Tourists can choose from various fountains, such as solar fountains, fog fountains, and wave fountains, on a buoyancy body with a length of 50m and a width of 30m. A fountain show using lasers, lights, and music is held on the lake, allowing you to spend a special time.

Yeonji Park is near the Daeseongdong Tomb Museum and the National Gimhae Museum.

Bonghwangdae Park is a cherry blossom spot loved by Gimhae citizens. With many cherry trees, citizens can appreciate the fully bloomed cherry blossoms. Sightseers can be entertained by the spring of Gimhae while walking along the promenade.

This park is a great place to enjoy a picnic, and its wide grass field is excellent. When spring comes, it’s a place where Gimhae citizens go for a walk and date. The vast grass field is also great for children to run around.

At Bonghwangdae Park, you can observe the lifestyle and houses of the Geumgwan Gaya era. They restored three high-class houses and one watchtower from the Gaya era, excavated from the archaeological site, and installed a ship from the Gaya era. The park also has a Bonghwangdong Relics Exhibition Hall. Bonghwangdae Park is conveniently located near the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit and Gimhae Intercity Bus Terminal.

Gimhae Suro Royal Tomb is a symbolic cultural heritage of Gimhae. It’s the tomb of Suro, the founder of Geumgwan Gaya, and is a circular mound about 5m high. The tomb took its current form in 1580. At that time, Kim Heo-su, a descendant of King Suro, rebuilt it on a grand scale along with Queen Suro’s tomb. Currently, Suro’s tomb exudes a serene and majestic atmosphere. It has established itself as a representative landmark of Gimhae.

When spring comes, cherry blossoms bloom at Suro’s tomb, attracting tourists. It’s a great place to slowly stroll and appreciate the cherry blossoms in the warm weather. Gimhae Suro Royal Tomb is a travel destination where explorers can encounter more beautiful scenery if they visit in spring.

Haeidam Coffee is a famous cafe in Gimhae for enjoying cherry blossoms. It became famous through social media and is now well-known among travelers. Haeidam Coffee is located near Gimhae Suro Royal Tomb. From the two-story cafe, you can overlook Suro’s tomb. When spring comes, it’s a place where you can appreciate the cherry blossoms blooming in Suro’s tomb.

Entering the cafe, people can appreciate the cherry blossom scenery beyond the full-length glass windows. Going up to the second floor, an even more beautiful view awaits. The entire wall consists of glass windows, creating an open atmosphere where you can comfortably stay. At Haeidam Coffee, tourists can taste delicious coffee, salt bread, egg tarts, etc. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee and spend a comfortable time in the cafe.

Haeidam Coffee is near Gimhae Suro Royal Tomb, Gimhae Folk Museum, and Bonghwangdae Park.
