Kagawa Prefecture’s Flower Park Urashima (フラワーパーク浦島) is a quintessential spring destination. Come April, this place, famed for its cherry blossoms and marguerites, transforms into a sea of white flowers. Beyond the flower fields, its variety of spring blooms also endears itself to locals.

Adding to its charm, the park boasts sweeping ocean views, making it a picture-perfect spot to soak in the beauty of spring. However, due to the expected surge in visitors during the festival period, from April 26 to May 15, entry and traffic restrictions may be implemented.

Flower Park Urashima has become a social media darling in Japan, with photos of its springtime beauty going viral each year.

Kochi Prefecture boasts another springtime treasure: the Gekou Cherry Blossom, or “Moonlight Cherry Blossom.” This majestic tree, perched atop a hill in Otsuki Town, Nagasaki, stands nearly 1 meter tall and is famed for its ethereal beauty. Its delicate white petals seem to glow under the moon’s light, creating a truly unforgettable sight.

The Gekou Cherry Blossom, a mountain cherry blossom once intended to be registered as a new species by a botanist, is a beloved cherry blossom spot among residents. You can enjoy the romantic cherry blossoms as they illuminate the night. The Gekou Cherry Blossom is best viewed from late March to early April.

In line with the cherry blossom season, they illuminate the paths from 7 PM to 10 PM, allowing you to appreciate the cherry blossoms at night. Kyoto, Japan, is a magnet for Korean tourists, and for good reason. Here, you can experience a serene atmosphere, starkly contrasting the bustling energy of nearby Osaka. Kyoto also boasts breathtaking cherry blossoms, making it a perfect spring destination.

Among them, Toji (東寺) is a temple that houses a five-story pagoda. When spring arrives, about 200 royal cherry trees begin to bloom here. This harmonious tableau of the majestic pagoda framed by delicate cherry blossoms perfectly captures the essence of Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage and timeless beauty.

A cherished symbol of spring in Kyoto is the 120-year-old, 13-meter-tall Buli cherry tree. From late March to early April each year, Kyoto explodes in a vibrant display of cherry blossoms. During this magical time, nighttime illuminations add an extra layer of enchantment to the scenery.

Steeped in history as a prime cherry blossom viewing spot, Tokyo’s Sumida Park continues to captivate visitors today. Each year, a vibrant cherry blossom festival coincides with peak bloom, making this spring a delightful time to visit. The festivities will be held from March 17 to April 7 this year.

A favorite among locals for weekend strolls and scenic walks, Sumida Park transforms into a breathtaking spectacle when its 510 cherry trees burst into bloom. Here, you can meander along the cherry blossom path lining both sides of the Sumida River, immersing yourself in a sea of delicate pink flowers.

Illuminated cherry blossoms against the night sky create an even more enchanting atmosphere. And for a truly unforgettable experience, take in the dazzling night view of Tokyo, with the iconic Tokyo Skytree sparkling in the distance.

Sumida Park offers more than just a scenic stroll. Take your cherry blossom viewing to the water with a traditional boat ride or a Tokyo water bus cruise, adding a unique touch to your experience. If you plan a springtime visit to Tokyo, include Sumida Park on your itinerary for an unforgettable encounter with Japan’s iconic blooms.
