A 26-Year-Old Man Diagnosed with Stomach Cancer
Repeated Small Habits Added Up
Drinking Alcohol and Staying Up Late
The reason behind a 26-year-old man’s stomach cancer diagnosis is generating buzz.
Last month, Mr. Tian, originally from China, felt pain in his upper abdomen, dizziness, and weakness in his arms and legs. After noticing that his stool was always dark in color, he suspected he had chronic gastritis and took small doses of medication whenever it relapsed.
Doctors recommended that he undergo several gastroscopies, but Mr. Tian was complacent, thinking he wouldn’t discover any severe illnesses due to his young age.
However, at his mother’s warning, Mr. Tian reluctantly went to the hospital for gastroscopy.
The test results showed that Mr. Tian had stomach cancer. Fortunately, only the lymph nodes around him were swollen, and the disease had not spread far.
The doctors removed two-thirds of the stomach and surrounding lymph nodes through laparoscopic surgery. The surgery went smoothly, but Mr. Tian had to undergo chemotherapy even after the operation.
After investigating his medical history, it was found that Mr. Tian had bad habits such as ordering takeout around 300 times a year, going out for barbecues, drinking alcohol, and eating late at night without sleeping.
Doctors explained that even if repeated 2-3 times a day, these bad habits could be the cause of his current illness.
