A video of an influencer, Débora Peixoto, applying feces to her face as part of an unconventional skincare routine has gone viral.

The New York Post reported that Peixoto shared the video on her social media accounts. In the footage, she retrieves feces from her refrigerator and applies them to her face while looking in the mirror.

Unable to tolerate the pungent odor, Peixoto pinches her nose with a clothespin. After a short period, she rinses the feces off her face with water.

Afterward, Peixoto can be seen touching her face with satisfaction and showcasing her skin. She described the experience as “the craziest thing I’ve done in my life” but added, “It’s worked for me, and my skin has stopped flaking.”

The video has garnered over 300,000 views and become a sensation. However, experts have criticized the feces face mask method, stating there is no scientific basis for its effectiveness.

Dr. Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at Cadogan Clinic in London, commented, “There is absolutely no scientific benefit to your skin in using feces as a face mask.”

Tunc Tiryaki, a plastic surgeon, also warned that feces can contain harmful bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, and parasites. He cautioned that applying feces to the face could lead to severe skin infections or systemic illnesses if it comes into contact with minor wounds, abrasions, or mucous membranes.

He emphasized the importance of using face masks that are safe and scientifically validated.
