A challenge that has been recently gaining popularity on social media is the “Backup Camera Challenge.”
The “Rearview Camera Challenge” involves the driver leaning back to show their face in the rearview camera while reversing, and it’s becoming a trendy prank.
An online community forum post shared a story of a girlfriend who tried the dangerous challenge, leading to a major argument.
The author wrote, “While my girlfriend thought it was a fun joke, I was furious and asked her if she was ‘trying to get hurt.’ I wish she wouldn’t play such dangerous pranks because she could really get hurt or even die.”
The “Backup Camera Challenge” is one of the dangerous challenges trending among the MZ generation on social media. Due to the ongoing controversy, Instagram took measures to make posts with hashtags like ‘Backup Camera Challenge’ unsearchable.
The challenge is also rapidly spreading overseas. According to foreign reports such as Bloomberg, at least 20 minors died while attempting the challenge over 18 months up until November last year.
Meanwhile, various dangerous challenges have been like the “Backup Camera Prank.”
On TikTok, the “Blackout Challenge” became popular among some children.
This challenge involves choking oneself until passing out. In the past, from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s, 82 children in 31 states in the U.S. died from the Blackout Challenge.
