A Chinese man has sparked outrage for placing a ‘funnel for animals’ around his 5-year-old granddaughter’s neck.
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) recently reported on a video that has been spreading in an online community, featuring a man from Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, and his granddaughter.
The video shows a man putting a funnel, which was in the car, around his young granddaughter’s neck. The girl, wearing the funnel around her neck, appeared to be uncomfortable.
It’s no wonder, as these funnels are typically used to prevent pets from licking certain parts of their bodies after being neutered or spayed.
What’s even more shocking is that the man reportedly did this to stop his granddaughter from playing games on her smartphone for extended periods during a car trip.
The girl’s mother did not stop the man but instead stated that it was effective in suppressing her daughter’s desire to use her smartphone. She said, “We used this method every time she wanted to use her smartphone. After wearing it, she no longer wanted to use her smartphone,” she added.
As the video spread online, the majority of Chinese netizens voiced criticism. While the dominant opinion was that this was an act of abuse, there were also comments such as “How desperate must they have been to do this?”
Meanwhile, in the US, a famous parenting YouTuber who shared the experiences of raising six children has been revealed to have committed child abuse, shocking the public.
According to local US media, Ruby Franke, who runs the YouTube channel ‘8 Passengers,’ recently appeared in Washington County District Court and admitted to four out of six charges of child abuse against her.
According to court records, Franke forced her son to do physical labor, made him work repeatedly in the scorching sun during the summer causing sunburn, did not provide enough food, and isolated him from others by preventing him from accessing books or electronic devices.
Franke also reportedly abused her daughter by forcing her to work outside, making her run on unpaved roads barefoot, and not providing her with food and water.
