As the new year begins, Japan faces a series of unsettling incidents. Following the earthquake and plane crash in Haneda Airport, another distressing event has unfolded—a stabbing incident on a subway.
According to Japan’s NHK report on the 3rd, at approximately 11 pm on that day, a woman in her 20s brandished a knife aboard a JR Yamanote Line train as it passed through JR Akihabara Station in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. This horrifying episode resulted in injuries to four men. At the time of the incident, authorities received around 110 distress calls with reports of a woman wielding a knife on the train and injuring people.
In response to the alarming situation, the train swiftly initiated an emergency stop at Akihabara Station. Japanese law enforcement promptly apprehended the suspect on the spot, placing her under arrest on charges of attempted murder. Authorities are now actively investigating the precise circumstances surrounding the crime.
Meanwhile, emergency responders promptly transported three severely injured victims, with wounds to their chest, stomach, and back, to the hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not life-threatening, and they are expected to recover.
