Man Accused of Disguising as Teenage Boy to Sexually Assualt Teen Girls

[iNews24, Reporter Shin Soo-jung] A man in his 20s is facing an arrest warrant issued by the police after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl by pretending to be a minor and luring her into a room café.

The Women and Youth Department of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency announced on January 23 that they issued an arrest warrant against a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of statutory rape.

Mr. A is accused of having sexual intercourse with a teenager, Ms. B, at a room café in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province around 1:30 PM on January 21. It was investigated that Mr. A met Ms. B through an open chat messenger service and had been in contact before the crime was committed.

Mr. A had met Ms. B’s parents in person before the incident. According to an MBC report, Ms. B asked her mother to “please let me meet my boyfriend.” Surprised by this discovery of a boyfriend, the mother said, “Bring your friend home.” On the day of the incident, Mr. A visited Ms. B’s house and introduced himself as a prospective high school freshman.

Though they were often worried about their daughter who usually stayed at home due to poor health, Ms. B’s parents allowed her to go out. When their daughter did not return home at the promised time, Ms. B’s parents went out to find her and discovered her with Mr. A at a room café and reported the police.

According to the police investigation, Mr. A turned out to be 25 years old, not a minor. The police arrested Mr. A on the spot and have been investigating him until they issued an arrest warrant on January 22. The decision on whether to detain him will be made after the suspect interrogation (warrant issuance review) is completed.

Ms. B’s side wishes for the investigation to be held in custody, as they claim that Mr. A knows their home address and may have ulterior motives.

A police official stated, “Mr. A admits to having sexual intercourse with Ms. B, but their statements do not align,” and added, “We plan to determine the exact circumstances through further investigation.”
