[iNews24 Reporter Kim Da-woon] Carolina Shino, a citizen from Ukraine who received a lot of attention by winning the “Miss Japan” Grand Prix, resigned due to allegations of infidelity.
On February 6, according to the Sankei Shimbun and other sources, Shino announced “I have resigned from the Miss Japan Grand Prix,” on social media on February 5.
She apologized, writing, “I am truly sorry for causing a great inconvenience and betraying those who have supported me.”
Her resignation was also announced on the Miss Japan official website. The Miss Japan Association stated, “She offered to resign due to personal circumstances,” and “The 2024 Miss Japan Grand Prix will be left vacant.”
This resignation is interpreted as a result of a report on February 1 by the Japanese media Shūkan Bunshun about allegations of an affair with a married man in his 40s who is a plastic surgeon.
He is known as a figure who gained fame as a “muscle doctor” after winning the “Best Body Japan” competition last year and has a son with his wife.
According to Shūkan Bunshun, the man in his 40s has been secretly dating Shino for three years. He visited Shino’s house three times since last May, and pictures were taken of them holding hands and going on dates.
He partially acknowledged the report on January 31 on his social media, stating, “It’s true that we dated and met.”
Shino gained recognition when she won the Grand Prix at the “56th Miss Japan Contest” held in Tokyo on January 22.
Although both her parents are Ukrainian, she grew up in Japan from an early age as her mother remarried a Japanese man after her divorce. She obtained Japanese citizenship in 2022.
On the official Miss Japan website, she introduced herself by saying, “Although my appearance is foreign, I grew up in Japan from around the age of five, so I am completely Japanese on the inside.”
