Stole His Mother’s Diamond Necklace
8-Year-Old Boy Confesses His Feelings to Girlfriend
Parents’ Astounding Reaction
On February 14, Chinese local media reported about a surprising Valentine’s Day gift from an 8-year-old girl.
A girl living in Hunan Province, China, came home from school with a necklace.
At first, the girl’s mother noticed her daughter wearing an unfamiliar necklace but didn’t pay much attention, thinking it was just a toy.
However, when the mother took a closer look, and was astounded to find it similar to a real diamond rather than a plastic imitation.
When she asked her daughter where it came from, the daughter honestly answered that it was a gift from her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day.
According to the daughter, a boy who liked her confessed his feelings and gave her the necklace. Although she refused to accept it initially, she eventually accepted the necklace as he insisted.
Realizing the value of the necklace made of platinum and diamonds, worth up to about $3,140, the mother promptly contacted the homeroom teacher to call the boy’s parents to return it.
The mother was shocked not only by the immense value of the necklace but also by learning that the boy had innocently taken his mother’s diamond necklace.
After taking a photo, the girl’s mother called the boy’s parents and said, “Your son gave my daughter a necklace. I’ll return it tomorrow.”
However, surprisingly, the boy’s parents kindly refused, saying, “It’s okay. It feels uncomfortable to take back a gift already given.”
The next day, the girl’s mother took her daughter to school and taught her not to accept gifts from others.
However, the daughter, perplexed, questioned the distinction between accepting gifts from friends versus strangers, prompting the mother to reconsider her approach. In the end, the mother realized the flaw in her teaching and displayed embarrassment.
Netizens who came across the news were surprised by the gift the boy gave but were even more surprised by the attitude of the boy’s parents.
