The girl who slept for 14 hours dismissed as a “lazy teenager” by a doctor is diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
A teenage girl who found herself overwhelmingly tired and sleeping for 14 hours each day, grew concerned about her health and decided to seek early medical attention.
However, the doctor attributed her symptoms to being a “lazy teenager,” and sent her home without further investigation.
A year later, a friend noticed a large lump protruding from her neck, so she returned to the hospital.
Following a series of tests, the girl revealed, “I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and the doctor said the cancer is growing rapidly. It’s very scary and worrying.”
The girl reported that when she first came to the hospital, she had experienced several strange symptoms for several months, including fatigue, shortness of breath, facial flushing, a stiff neck, and mood swings, in addition to sleeping for a long time.
She also claimed that the medical team dismissed her symptoms as “increasing pain as she gets older.”
The girl added, “I felt something was wrong, and when I heard from the doctor that it was due to ‘laziness,’ I felt frustrated.”
After surgery, the doctor told the girl that although the cancer is gone, the cancer cells had spread to other parts of the body.
The doctor called the girl and said, “Cancer cells were found in the thyroid lymphatic and blood vessels. Additional surgery and radiation therapy are needed.”
The girl shared, “I will know the results in about six weeks. I’m very anxious and always worried. It’s very important to trust your instincts and follow your intuition. You know your body best.”
