Middle School Brother Pleads to Shower With Older Sister
“There’s nothing wrong among siblings?”
Shocking Reaction from Mother
A high school girl has shared a story online about her younger brother’s difficulty transitioning to showering alone.
Through the anonymous forum Dcard, a Taiwanese high school girl recently opened up about how she used to shower with her younger brother and share various stories when they were children.
“My brother just started middle school, and I thought it might be a good time for us to shower separately,” she explained. “He didn’t seem to understand why, though. He kept saying, ‘We’ve always showered together, what’s the big deal?'”
The high school girl tried to lie to her mother about having a boyfriend and no longer wanted to shower with her brother, but her mother scolded her instead.
After clearing up the misunderstanding about the alleged boyfriend, the girl’s mother simply said, “Oh, well, that’s okay then.” However, she suggested they keep showering together, asking, “What’s the harm? You’re siblings.”
The girl’s story sparked a conversation online, with many users supporting the establishment of personal boundaries. Comments like, “It’s completely okay to want to shower alone now,” and “You have the right to feel comfortable” echoed throughout the discussion.
The high school girl eventually stood her ground, sharing that she ultimately refused. “I yelled that I didn’t want to.”
The situation reportedly led to a family discussion. The mother facilitated separate showers for the siblings to avoid conflict. The father allegedly used this as a teachable moment, discussing respecting personal space as the children mature.
