A 19-year-old from Australia who attempted to stay awake for 12 days has been banned from YouTube.

The UK media outlet Mirror reported that Norme, a YouTuber with 1.2 million subscribers, announced on the 12th that he was undertaking the challenge to break a world record.

Norme appeared increasingly tired during his livestream but ultimately impressed viewers by staying awake for 264 hours and 24 minutes (11 days and 24 minutes).

Norme’s livestream was abruptly cut off just as he was nearing completion. He later revealed that his YouTube account had terminated the stream.

Norme expressed his frustration, saying, “I’m crying right now. There were just 12 hours left to reach my goal.”

Reports indicate that as Norme’s challenge ended, an ambulance and police car were stationed outside his home. Concerned viewers may have called for help out of concern for his health.

The challenge faced significant criticism from medical professionals. Dr. Deborah Lee from Dr. Fox Online Pharmacy remarked, “I think this is utterly crazy. Even if someone wanted to end their life, this would be a miserable and painful way to do it.”

In a historical context, Randy Gardner set the world record for staying awake in 1963 as a high school student. He went without sleep for 264 hours and 25 minutes (11 days and 25 minutes) during an experiment conducted by a research team at Stanford University.
