A British man miraculously survived after being stung by a swarm of wasps 240 times.
According to The Mirror, 57-year-old Andrew Powell went out to work in his field when he suddenly encountered a swarm of wasps.
Powell recalled, “I went outside to look over the fields, which I regularly do. Suddenly, I saw these wasps coming from what must have been a nest.”
In an instant, Powell found himself surrounded by wasps and waved his arms as he ran home as fast as he could. He was so hasty that he forgot to close the door, letting the swarm into his house.
In desperation, Powell dashed into the bathroom, where the wasps were attacking him through his clothes. His wife threw water from a bucket to drive the wasps away.
As his neighbor hurried Powell to the hospital, medical personnel confirmed he had suffered over 240 bee stings across his back, arms, and forehead. Thanks to the swift response, his life was saved.
Upon arrival, Powell was treated with adrenaline and morphine to manage his pain. He has since been discharged and is now recuperating at home.
“I haven’t even been able to sleep,” he said. Powell expressed his gratitude, stating that if it weren’t for the help of his wife and neighbors, he probably would have died.
He reflected on the incident, noting, “I look back on it and think it’s better they got me than the children living next door. There is a little baby, and it could have killed them.”
