Ahead of defending his title at the PGA Tour Mexico Open, American golfer Tony Finau has one less worry.

On the 21st, local media in Utah reported that the Utah Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit by David Hunter against Finau for a breach of contract and return of investment funds.

This lawsuit had been a thorn for Finau and his family.

In 2007, Hunter invested money in Finau Corporation, which was established by Finau, his father, and his elder brother. He filed a lawsuit in 2021, claiming he did not receive his investment back.

Previously, Hunter lost in the Provo District Court in Utah, appealed, and lost again this time.

The court ruled that the statute of limitations had expired on Hunter’s lawsuit for a breach of contract and return of investment funds.

However, Finau still has one more unresolved lawsuit.

Businessman and local Utah politician Molonai Hola, who supported Finau with golf lesson costs from 2006 to 2009, filed a lawsuit claiming that Finau promised to give him 20% of his income when he became successful but did not keep his promise.

The verdict for this lawsuit is expected to be delivered in October.

So far, Finau has earned about $38 million in prize money alone.

Finau will participate in the PGA Tour Mexico Open, which will be held over four days starting the 23rd. As the tournament winner last year, this is Finau’s title defense.
