According to state-run Xinhua News Agency on Jan. 24, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) launched the 11th Communication Technology Experimental Satellite from the Wenchang Launch Center in Hainan province at 7:30 p.m. on the previous day. The satellite was launched aboard the Chang'e-5 carrier rocket Yao-7 and reportedly landed successfully in its scheduled orbit. According to Chinese media, the satellite is mainly used to conduct multi-band, high-speed satellite communications technology verification, and the Chang'e-5 rocket is an indigenously developed, ultra-large rocket, also known as the "Fat Five". According to Chinese media, the satellite will be used for satellite communications, but Western nations believe it could be used for military purposes.
