Elon Musk’s Tesla electric pickup, the Cybertruck, praised for its outstanding durability, recently experienced its inaugural vehicular collision. Fortunately, both parties involved in the incident sustained only minor injuries. However, the remarkable aspect of the incident lies in the extent of damage, as the Cybertruck appeared relatively unscathed compared to the other vehicles involved.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) disclosed that the accident transpired around 2:05 PM local time on Skyline Boulevard in California on the 28th of last month.
The news of this collision came to light when a passing driver captured photos of the accident scene and subsequently posted them on Reddit, drawing attention to the incident.
According to the CHP, the sequence of events in the accident involved a Toyota Corolla initially hitting the right barrier, then re-entering the road, and eventually veering into the opposite lane, colliding with the Cybertruck traveling in the oncoming direction. While the exact cause of the accident remains undisclosed, speculation by The Verge suggests that the road conditions might have contributed, possibly due to wet and slippery conditions caused by cloudy weather.
Based on photos taken at the scene, the Cybertruck appears to have sustained relatively minor damage, with a dent and scratches near the left rear door. In stark contrast, the Corolla colliding with the Cybertruck suffered extensive front-end damage, forcing it off the road and into the nearby forest.
At the time of the accident, there was a 17-year-old driver in the Corolla, and in addition to the Corolla’s driver, there were two more passengers in the Cybertruck. Fortunately, only the driver of the Cybertruck suffered minor injuries and reportedly declined transportation to a medical facility. No other casualties were reported as a result of the collision.
