Kia’s EV6 is due for a facelift. Given that price hikes have traditionally accompanied the launch of new domestic car models, consumers are showing great interest in the price determination for the EV6. Various analyses are currently being proposed.

However, a significant variable has recently emerged: the EV6’s sibling vehicle, the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 recently underwent a surprising facelift. The problem is that the car fully accepted the feedback from existing consumers and completely froze the price. As a result, there is speculation that the price of the new EV6 will also be frozen. So, how will the cost of Kia’s new EV6 be determined?

The 2023 EV6’s sales were 17,227 units, which is only a 5.2% difference from the 16,335 units of the Ioniq 5 sold before its facelift. Given that the Ioniq 5, which had similar sales, significantly improved its product quality, similar configurations and pricing are suggested to maintain sales performance.

The new Ioniq 5 increased its battery capacity from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh, increasing its driving distance from 284.3 to 301.4 miles. Notably, the rear wiper was added in response to many complaints from existing car owners. Physical buttons were also introduced for some core functions, significantly improving convenience with the inclusion of ccNC.

The overall appearance did not undergo significant changes. However, the design details of the front and rear bumpers and the wheel were changed. The rear spoiler was extended by 1.97 inches, reducing the air resistance coefficient, and a digital center mirror was installed. Kia’s EV6 also underwent a significant improvement with a facelift.

The latest specifications, such as the ccNC infotainment system, built-in cam 2, HAD 2, LFA 2, and on-demand functions, are installed. Looking at the interior of the captured prototype, there seemed to be no significant changes in the layout structure since the panoramic curved display had already been applied.

Which Will Consumers Choose?

Similar improvements are expected to match the increased battery capacity and driving distance of the Ioniq 5. Since no major changes have been announced beyond the changes the new Ioniq 5 had, it seems necessary to compete based on price to maintain existing sales. Therefore, it is highly likely that the price of the facelifted Kia EV6 will also be frozen. Or, even if it increases, it is expected not to exceed about $840.

Before the facelift, both the Ioniq 5 and EV6 showed close competition in terms of configuration, to the extent that individuals chose vehicles between them based on their design preferences. The Ioniq 5 had advantages such as a wheelbase that was 3.94 inches longer, more comfortable second-row seating, increased indoor openness through the panoramic sunroof, and a movable center console. The interior convenience was a drawback, but this, too, has been improved with the release of this facelift model. It will be interesting to see what the EV6 will look like when it is released to compete with the powerfully competitive new Ioniq 5.
