$4.8 Million Limited Edition Supercar Reproduced
with Lamborghini Gallardo
Everyone is Amazed by its Detail
Many people dream of owning a supercar, but with prices ranging from several million to tens of millions of dollars, not many can afford to make this dream a reality. This has led to a culture of creating “replicars,” cheaper versions of the desired vehicles.
A replicar is a vehicle that closely resembles a specific model. In Korea, it’s nearly impossible to find these replicars due to current laws prohibiting arbitrary modifications to a car’s exterior, except for a few in museums. However, in countries with more relaxed regulations, it’s not hard to find them. Recently, a car owner who turned a Lamborghini Gallardo into a “Veneno” has been making headlines.
The Lamborghini Veneno Replica
Based on a Gallardo
On March 11, a video was uploaded on YouTube showing a Taiwanese YouTuber exploring a parking lot and a private garage. Among the various supercars featured in the video, the “fake” Lamborghini Veneno, made as a replica, stole the show.
Based on Lamborghini’s entry model, the Gallardo, this vehicle looked very similar to the actual Veneno, with a rear spoiler, a complex diffuser, and wheels. However, since the Gallardo’s wheelbase is about 7.9 inches shorter than the Aventador, which is the base vehicle of the actual Veneno, the stance looked slightly awkward.
So, What Exactly is the Actual Veneno?
It was Once Voted the Ugliest Car
The Lamborghini Veneno, on which this replicar is based, is a limited edition model, with only four existing worldwide. The name “Veneno,” which means venom in Spanish, was borrowed from the name of a bull, following Lamborghini’s tradition. It’s powered by a modified version of the Aventador’s V12 6,500cc engine, which produces 750 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Its top speed is 220 mph.
The Lamborghini Veneno, priced at a whopping $4.8 million, caused quite a stir for its price and unique design. It deviated from the neat look of the previous Reventon and Aventador models and applied a bold, straight-line design. An American media outlet even named the Veneno the ugliest car in history.
A Price Difference Over 10 Times
On the other hand, the base vehicle was the Gallardo LP560-4, a late model that debuted in 2008. It has a V10 5,200cc engine that produces 560 horsepower, goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and has a top speed of 198 mph. The selling price of the Gallardo is about $310,000, which is over 10 times less than the Veneno’s $4.8 million price tag.
