2025 EV6 Prototype
Spotted alongside the current model
Revamped design
Kia’s electric vehicle, EV6, was recognized for its excellence in design and performance by sweeping various awards, including the 2022 Korean Car of the Year and the 2023 North American SUV Car of the Year. Meanwhile, news recently came that the 2025 EV6, a facelift model of the Kia EV6, was captured along with the existing model.
Kia announced that it is finishing development of the 2025 EV6. When the new EV6 is launched, it is expected to compete with Hyundai’s 2024 Ioniq 5, 2024 GV60, and 2024 Tucson. Meanwhile, when the predictive rendering of the 2025 EV6 was released, consumers responded as follows. : “It was much better before,” “Why did Kia change the design?” etc.
New design language to be unveiled
Triangular headlights similar to EV5
In an interview with foreign media, David Hilber, Kia Europe’s marketing director, mentioned several improvements to the new EV6. It is said to introduce a new design language applied in earnest, starting with the flagship EV9, taking inspiration from the styling seen in the Kia EV3, EV4, and EV5. Although the new EV6 was covered with camouflage, some changes could be seen compared to the previous model.
The front of the new EV6 is expected to feature completely new triangular headlights. Starmap signature light daytime running lights and LED lamps could be seen in the graphic design of the headlights. Overall, it was similar to the design seen in EV5. The air intake with a completely revised design was noticeable in the bumper area.
It may be equipped with the powertrain of Hyundai’s IONIQ 5
The rear tail lamp graphics may change slightly, but the futuristic appearance is expected to be maintained. Although the interior of the new EV6 was not captured, it is expected to be equipped with a new infotainment system like Hyundai’s IONIQ 5. Additionally, it will focus more on over-the-air updates and offer video and music streaming. Customers can also expect improved performance and voice recognition technology compared to the previous model.
In the case of the powertrain, the 2025 EV6 is likely to be equipped with a high-output motor from Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N, which produces 641 horsepower, and an 84kWh battery pack instead of the 77.4kWh battery pack installed in the existing model. The existing model’s driving distance ranges from about 373 km (about 232 miles) to about 500 km (about 311 miles), depending on the trim. If the IONIQ 5’s power train is installed, the driving distance is expected to increase by about 27 km (about 17 miles).
Kia’s 2025 EV6 is said to be launched in late 2024, and in addition to the new powertrain, improved ride comfort and quietness can be expected. The facelift model of the IONIQ 5 was equipped with new shock absorbers and additional soundproofing materials, and the new EV6 appears to be similar. Additionally, it is expected to be equipped with an improved driver assistance system.
