Before opening the 2024 New York International Auto Show, Hyundai Motor Group’s Genesis unveiled its new performance vehicle, Magma. Magma is an orange vehicle based on the GV60. This vehicle is reminiscent of the limited edition GV80 Coupe, first unveiled in the second half of 2023 and sold only in the Middle East.
Magma is said to be scheduled to be launched worldwide in the future. In addition to the vivid orange paint, it features wider fender flares and large grilles and vents to cool the battery and powertrain efficiently. Even the wheels are said to have been designed to be aerodynamic.
Designed to be lower and more comprehensive for more powerful output
The GV60 Magma concept car is scheduled to be officially unveiled at the 2024 New York International Auto Show and is currently scheduled for mass production. The vehicle will be developed a little lower and more comprehensive to utilize the body to increase power output fully. Additionally, it will be equipped with a front fascia with a more comprehensive air intake to cool the battery, brakes, and motor.
Three holes in the top of the fascia enable cooling, and the air curtain is designed to increase cooling efficiency through wind. Additionally, more prominent fenders will be added to the Magma concept car. Additionally, 21-inch wheels with integrated aero discs will be applied to cool the brakes and increase efficiency.
Orange contrast stitching may be a feature of the leather interior
The vehicle’s roof fin improved downforce by delivering air to the rear wing of the GV60, further strengthening the aerodynamic function. The leather interior is decorated with orange contrast stitching, and the seat backs are the same color as the car body, reminiscent of hot Magma.
Vice President of Design at Hyundai, Luc Donckerwolke, said, “Genesis’ Magma concept car is a new interpretation of a high-performance vehicle and provides an exciting opportunity to erase the line between performance and luxury.” He said, “We aim to develop Genesis’ unique model.”
Provides the thrill of sporty driving and the comfort of leisurely driving
Additionally, Luc Donckerwolke said, “Genesis will continue to unveil experimental concept vehicles, carefully considering technical and aesthetic elements.” “Speed and performance are important, but the Genesis Magma concept car exceeds expectations, and it will also be important to provide the thrill of sporty driving and the comfort of leisurely driving.”
When reporters asked when the mass production model of the GV60 Magma concept car would be released, Luc Donckerwolke only said that it would be launched soon and did not reveal a specific launch schedule. The GV60 Magma Concept Car, G80 Magma Special, and the recently unveiled Neolun Concept will be officially unveiled at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, which opens on March 29 (US time).
