Hyundai’s Next-Generation Palisade
The time to unveil the redesigned model (full-changed model) of Hyundai Palisade is approaching. Although there is still a wait until the official launch, interest has been growing as prototypes have been steadily spotted. Many expected designs are based on spy shots, raising consumers’ expectations.
As most of the vehicle body is still covered by camouflage, it is difficult to predict the specific design. However, creators specializing in expected rendering draw powerful images by gathering small clues. There are cases where the actual design of a new vehicle does not differ much from the expected design after the launch. Let’s look at the actual design direction of the new Palisade along with the latest expected design.
A tougher silhouette and a design that suits North American Taste
New York Mammoth, a YouTuber specializing in new car rendering, released an expected design of the front side of the redesigned Palisade model on March 29. New York Mammoth, which had previously designed several expected drawings for each composition of the new Palisade, made some changes to the design method, this time to achieve higher perfection. This design method uses spy shots and adds them to the design. Therefore, it can be expected that the proportions and profile of the vehicle body and the location and layout of each part will have a high degree of consistency.
Looking at the expected rendering, the new model appears to be an authentic SUV style popular in North America. The massive design, including the huge radiator grill and lamp box, is reminiscent of large SUVs such as Ford, GMC, Land Rover, and Chevrolet. The black high gloss was applied to the headlamp box connected to the front fender, bonnet, and the radiator grill’s upper part. It seems like the goal was to make the grill look wider.
Added Futuristic sensibility with a rear like the Range Rover
The harmonious image of the front bumper and active air flap creates a futuristic sensibility. The character line that adds wrinkles to the front and rear over-fenders emphasizes the feel of an authentic SUV like the Santa Fe. The wheel arch cladding and rocker panel are finished in high gloss to add a sense of luxury. Each pillar was also treated with black high gloss to create a floating roof design.
The angular appearance is emphasized on the rear side compared to the existing model, creating a stocky silhouette. It may have been felt in the front-side composition, but similar elements to the 4th generation Land Rover Range Rover model can be seen in various places. A design that minimizes messy character lines simply trims the door and has the tail lamp’s upper part invade the rear quarter panel.
Bye, bye diesel, Hello HEV
According to the industry, the diesel engine will be deleted from the powertrain configuration of the new Palisade. A 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine and a hybrid system based on it are newly applied. The existing 3.8L V6 gasoline naturally aspirated engine will be replaced with a 3.5L Lambda gasoline engine, and this engine version is expected to be launched only in the North American market. The mass production time is known to be January 2025.
