Recently, a new Porsche 911 Targa restomod GBR003 was unveiled. This car boasts a custom exhaust system, F1-inspired technologies, and a TracTive damper for sharp handling.
The exterior of the GBR003 is painted pastel blue, and the luxurious interior combines high-end materials with a motorsports feel. Additionally, the engine equipped in this vehicle provides a custom exhaust system that automatically adjusts the exhaust sound according to driving conditions.
Theon Design’s first – Porsche 911 Targa
The GBR003 is said to be the first Porsche 911 Targa produced by Theon Design.
Exceptional engineering and various technologies inspired by motorsports adorn the beautiful appearance of the GBR003. The GBR003’s carbon fiber body is finished in a paint-to-sample pastel blue color, and the Porsche emblem painted on the grill and bumper contrasts with the body color. The car’s doors are the only part of the exterior that is not made of carbon fiber, and they are designed this way to protect passengers from side impacts.
The color of the brake calipers matches the body stripes.
The 18-inch Fuchs wheels are equipped with Michelin Pilot 4S tires. A 4.0-liter powers the GBR003 horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, producing 403 horsepower and 44 kgf.m of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission made to 993 RS specifications, and the pedals are arranged to make shifting easier.
Showcasing signature howling through a custom exhaust system
The horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine showcases the Targa’s signature howling through a custom exhaust system.
It emits a calm exhaust sound for everyday driving, but when the valve opens, it produces a majestic sound. Although the driver can manually operate the valve, it automatically opens as the vehicle speeds up. The braking power comes from the 993 RS braking system, equipped with a 5-stage TracTive active control electronic damping system. Theon Design reportedly used F1 technology to build a carbon fiber bracing system.
The interior of the GBR003 combines luxurious materials with a motorsports feel, capturing both aesthetic elements and technology. To reduce weight, a lot of carbon fiber was used in the cabin, some covered in leather. The seats are finished in semi-aniline leather in a licorice color, and the original Porsche Agate Gray Pepita Houndstooth is applied. The rear seats, inspired by the Porsche 928’s bucket seats, have a built-in subwoofer.
Equipped with a custom audio system with six speakers and an amplifier
Additionally, the GBR003 boasts a custom audio system featuring a Pioneer P99RS Bluetooth system, which delivers sound through six speakers and an amplifier. The vehicle’s roof has been modified to fit the reinforced chassis and is trimmed with premium mohair material.
The starting price for the GBR003 is a whopping $600,000.
Although it’s a steep price, considering the exquisite design and performance on par with racing cars, it seems reasonable. Meanwhile, Theon Design launched the GBR002 last year, based on the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.
