Hyundai’s Baby Mode Feature

When traveling a long distance in a car with a child, the vehicle often shakes, making it difficult for the child to fall asleep. In addition, even if a child manages to fall asleep, there are many cases where the child wakes up due to sudden acceleration or sudden stops, making it difficult for parents to concentrate on driving or taking care of their child.
Due to their sensitivity, Hyundai has prepared a special function for children who have difficulty falling asleep or waking up easily. A special feature that is only installed on Hyundai vehicles is Baby Mode, which is said to be a feature provided in the 4th generation Tucson facelift model released at the end of 2023.
The purpose of developing Baby Mode is to provide a smooth driving experience
Hyundai Tucson is equipped with a special function called Baby Mode. This mode is said to have been developed to make it easier for children to sleep in the vehicle. “Simply put, we created Baby Mode to minimize disruption to children who are napping and to provide drivers with a smoother acceleration experience whenever they want,” said Derek Joyce, Hyundai’s North American product PR manager.
In addition, Hyundai Motor has introduced Baby Mode to reduce the stress that infants may feel due to the high total height and provide improved riding comfort by filtering out sudden acceleration, sudden braking, and parking impacts. Baby mode is said to be installed in the 4th generation Tucson facelift model (The New Tucson) launched by Hyundai in 2023 and only applies to hybrid specifications.
Whether to add Baby Mode to other vehicles is still undecided but under consideration
It is said that when drivers select Baby Mode in The New Tucson’s display menu configuration, the phrase Select a drive optimized for comfortable driving appears. Hyundai explained that it has not yet decided whether to add Baby Mode to other vehicles through wireless software updates. However, Derek Joyce seems to be considering adding it, saying, “I think Baby Mode is a new advantage for Hyundai so that it could be added to other vehicle lines based on customer research.”
Meanwhile, The New Tucson is equipped with a radiator grill design based on the Parametric Jewel Hidden Lamp, which can be said to be a symbol of Tucson. The interior of the 4th generation Tucson’s facelift model has changed significantly compared to the previous model. While the existing model was equipped with a 10.25-inch cluster and display, both were enlarged to 12.3 inches in the facelift model. In addition, Hyundai’s latest infotainment ccNC is installed.

The new Tucson is equipped with a shift lever on the right side of the steering wheel, like Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 or Kia’s EV9. This is more efficient than the existing shift button method and advantageous in securing storage space near the center tunnel. Indoor mood lighting is clearly visible near the storage box on the right side of the dashboard and below the center fascia, resolving the disappointment of the existing model with weak lighting.
Like other Hyundai models, OTT videos can be linked and viewed. Since the 12.3-inch display is not adjusted to the 16:9 video ratio, it is said that the video cannot be considered clean, like in Tesla vehicles. It is said that the New Tucson can be purchased for about 27.71 million won to 40.04 million won ($20,458 to $29,560) as of 2024. Meanwhile, Tucson, equipped with Baby Mode, is expected to be very popular with parents of infants and children.
