The new Sportage model is applying Kia’s latest design
Likely to be launched by the end of this year
Kia Sportage has recorded high sales in the South Korean compact SUV market. It sold 19,661 units in the first quarter of this year alone, far surpassing the facelifted Tucson’s sales of 11,746 units, proving its continued popularity. Sportage plans to launch a facelift version at the end of this year.
In addition to applying Kia’s latest design elements, the new Sportage is expected to form a family look with other models. As the design of the existing Sportage received good reviews, interest in what the new Sportage will look like is also increasing.
The Sportage test car has been spotted, and the expected model has been revealed before its launch
Recently, Sportage’s test car was captured several times, revealing the overall design outline, including the lamps. Based on this, realistic renderings emerged and became a hot topic among netizens. This is a Sportage rendering designed by New York Mammoth, a YouTube channel specializing in Korean automobile rendering.
The front design prominently features Kia’s Star Map signature DRL. Detailed changes were made while creating a family look with other Kia models. The change appears to respond to consumer criticism that there are no differentiated design elements due to the expansion of the family look. DRLs with horizontal and vertical emphasis are placed separately.
Divided grill design
Angular tail lamp graphics
The detailed lines of the DRL are bent several times to create an angular design. A curved shape was applied to the overall headlamp outline. The two-part grille was placed horizontally along the parting line. The bumper fascia emphasized its trapezoidal shape. Although placing various sensors toward the right side gives a neat impression, it may feel unbalanced.
In the case of the rear, the change in the tail lamp stands out. A tail lamp similar to that of the mid-size SUV Sorento was applied. The internal graphic is curved in a ㄱ shape aligned with the Star Map signature design. The black high-gloss, which previously occupied a large area, was reduced in size as there were many opinions that it was excessive. The rear design has become much neater, achieving an appropriate ratio with the cladding of the wheel arches.
The powertrain is the same
Likely to add latest specifications
Sportage’s facelift model will likely be launched at the end of this year. The powertrain is expected to remain the same as before: 1.6 gasoline turbo, 2.0 diesel, and 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid. The new Sportage is expected to have changes focused on the exterior, but it is expected to apply various latest specifications, including ccNC, to the interior, raising great expectations.
