Set to be unveiled in Beijing at the end of this month

It has been reported that the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupe model is scheduled to be unveiled at the end of this month. The vehicle is said to be capable of producing over 800 horsepower.
The AMG GT plug-in hybrid model is Mercedes-Benz’s sixth hybrid vehicle, following the S63, SL 63, C63, GT 63 four-door coupe, and One hypercar. Consumers are already reacting enthusiastically to the news that the PHEV version of the refreshed AMG GT will be launched as a 2024 model.
The vehicle combines a 4.0-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering
804 horsepower and approximately 144kgf.m of torque
The AMG GT plug-in hybrid model has the same powertrain as the recently unveiled Mercedes-Benz AMG SL 63 E Performance Roadster. The GT 63’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and rear-mounted electric motor provide 804 horsepower and approximately 144 kgf.m of torque. The 400V battery mounted under the trunk, which Mercedes emphasizes as ultra-light and high-performance, provides a power boost when the vehicle accelerates and can provide energy to drive about 12 km (7.5 miles) with the engine turned off.
The AMG GT plug-in hybrid model is expected to have the same carbon ceramic brakes, rear axle steering, and aerodynamically optimized styling used in the AMG GT convertible model. Mercedes-Benz did not reveal the exact launch date of the AMG GT plug-in hybrid model, but it is expected to be launched soon as it will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show at the end of this month.
The vehicle abandons the two-seater layout and adopts a 2+2 interior design
Meanwhile, the new AMG GT was comprehensively redesigned through the same program as the new SL, which was made at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Bremen, Germany. Although larger and heavier than the previous model, the new GT is much more spacious and has improved practicality. It abandons the two-seat layout that characterized AMG models and adopts a 2+2 interior design. Mercedes-Benz is said to have aimed to make it easier for buyers to use the vehicle in their daily lives.
Additionally, the new GT abandoned the previously used rear-wheel drive system. Instead, it is said to have adopted a fully variable four-wheel drive system as a standard feature for the first time. Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-Benz AMG, said that by adopting the all-wheel drive system, “We can provide greater traction and a wider range of driving characteristics in all situations.”

The new GT features the same newly developed body structure as the SL. It is said that mixed materials, consisting of aluminum, composite fiber materials, magnesium, and steel, were used to make the vehicle body. The first-generation GT model greatly influenced the styling, and the traditional cabback profile with a long bonnet, curved roofline, and angled liftback tailgate can also be said to be characteristics of the GT.
In the case of the new GT, aerodynamic performance has been enhanced with an Active Air Control System inside the grill that changes airflow to the engine bay and a folding rear that can be transformed at up to five angles to create a venturi effect. It is said that it is also equipped with a spoiler. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz did not reveal the exact price of the AMG GT plug-in hybrid model, but considering the vehicle’s performance, it is expected to be launched at a cost of more than 342.8 million won ($250,676).
