Ford has announced the introduction of a new rear motor in their 2024 Mustang Mach-E
It offers a driving range of approximately 319 miles
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E returns in 2024 with enhanced performance. The revamped Mustang Mach-E will be available in four trims: Select, Premium, GT, and Rally. The high-performance Mach-E GT Performance trim has been phased out and replaced with a package format.
The 2024 Mach-E’s charging speed is approximately 9 minutes faster than its predecessor. The GT model equipped with the GT Performance package can reportedly accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. With the GT Performance trim being phased out, additional performance features have been incorporated into the GT trim.
The Select trim can drive approximately 250 miles, while the Premium trim offers around 319 miles of driving range.
One of the 2024 Mach-E’s most noticeable features is its new rear motor, which offers a more extended driving range. Ford claims its in-house-developed rear motor has become lighter and provides improved torque. The rear-wheel-drive Mach-E Select model with a single engine and standard battery can drive approximately 250 miles, while the rear-wheel-drive Premium model with a long-range battery can drive around 319 miles.
Ford has also reduced the charging time across the Mach-E lineup. The long-range battery of the 2024 Mach-E takes about 36 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, which Ford claims is nearly 9 minutes faster than before. It takes approximately 32 minutes to charge the standard battery from 10% to 80%. The Mach-E’s high-performance trims were previously available in GT and GT Performance. However, starting with the 2024 model, the GT Performance trim is no longer a standalone model and is now offered as a performance upgrade package.
With the phasing out of the GT Performance trim, it has been replaced with a package format.
Models equipped with the GT Performance package can use a boost of 4kgf.m, making them significantly faster than the standard GT, and can reportedly accelerate to 62 mph in just about 3.3 seconds. Ford explains that models with the GT Performance package maintain maximum output through their dual motor powertrain thanks to innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms.
The GT Performance package comes standard on the off-road focused Rally model. Buyers of the Mach-E GT model can add this package at purchase or activate it later. With the discontinuation of the GT Performance model, Ford has added more standard equipment to the GT, including Ford Performance front seats, Brembo front brake calipers, and magnetorheological dampers.
To improve interface accessibility, Ford has redesigned the button icons.
Ford has also made some improvements to the interior of the Mach-E. They have redesigned the button icons to make it easier for drivers to access important information, and through this, drivers can adjust the interface of the 15.5-inch center touchscreen. Ford also redesigned the settings page to allow all information to be viewed on a single page, stating that customers do not like to scroll.
Wireless Apple Inc. CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across the Mach-E lineup, and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driver-assist technology is also available on all Mach-E models. The 2024 Mustang Mach-E Select trim is priced at approximately $48,000, the Premium trim at around $53,000, and the GT model at about $64,000. The price for the GT Performance package is roughly $1,140. The highest-performing Mach-E Rally is priced at around $71,000.
