Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 Electric Car
Receives High Praise from German Electric Car Magazine
Showcasing the Power of K-Electric Cars
The Hyundai Ioniq 6, an electric sedan from the Hyundai brand, has recently received high praise in a long-distance driving evaluation conducted in Germany. On the 17th, Hyundai announced that their electric vehicle, the Ioniq 6, achieved outstanding ratings in the ‘ED1000’ long-distance electric car evaluation conducted by the German electric car magazine Electric Drive. The assessment was based on several factors: driving range, charging performance, driving performance, design, and interior space.
Electric Drive conducted a two-week test of the Ioniq 6 on actual roads, covering 2,000 km (approximately 1,242 miles), and analyzed the car’s design, interior space, driving performance, and charging performance. The Ioniq 6 received near-perfect scores in six evaluation categories, including driving range, charging speed, driving performance, riding comfort, quality, and convenience specifications, earning an overall rating of 5 out of 5.
The Highly Praised Ioniq 6
Attracts Attention with Excellent Energy Efficiency
Electric Drive highly praised the Hyundai Ioniq 6, stating that “for electric car buyers, driving range and charging performance are critical in their purchase decision. The Ioniq 6 excels in both areas and is a perfect electric car that won’t disappoint consumers.”
They particularly highlighted the Ioniq 6’s energy efficiency, noting that “despite the challenging conditions of heavy rain during the test period and harsh driving conditions on various road types across Germany without considering energy efficiency, the car recorded an average energy consumption of 20kWh/100km (approximately 62 miles), making it an economical vehicle. On national roads and in the city where the regenerative braking function often works, the energy efficiency reached up to 15.8 km/100 kWh (approximately 98 miles).”
Charging Convenience and Design
Also Received High Scores
The Ioniq 6’s charging convenience, such as its 800V high-voltage system and charging station guidance function, also received high praise. The magazine reported that “the Ioniq 6, equipped with an 800V high-voltage system, took about 7 hours to charge from 10% to 100% using a home wall box, and only 13 minutes to charge from 27% to 80% at a 350kW super-fast charging station, showing faster charging speed compared to other electric cars. The car also excels in convenience, alerting the driver and guiding them to the nearest charging station when the remaining power is insufficient to reach the designated destination.”
What was the assessment of the Ioniq 6’s design? The magazine said, “The clean and sensuous linear design looks beautiful and enhances aerodynamic performance, contributing to its world-class energy efficiency. Despite its coupe-style design, it offers ample space due to its long wheelbase and maximizes operational convenience due to its ergonomic design.”
A Car with Noticeable Harmony
Hyundai Continues to Win Awards
Regarding driving performance, it was highly praised as a “car that feels harmonious, dynamic and agile in cornering, but offers a smooth and sleek driving sensation on flat roads, making the driver feel comfortable.” Meanwhile, the Ioniq 6, which has secured its place as a key model in the global electric car market based on its outstanding product quality, won the ‘World Car of the Year’ at the 2023 World Car Awards.
From the second half of last year to the beginning of this year, it has been receiving several praises in Europe, winning the 2024 German Car of the Year New Energy Category, the 2023 Auto Bild Golden Steering Wheel Award Midsize Category, the 2024 Irish Car of the Year, the 2024 Scottish Car of the Year and Large EV Category, and the 2024 UK Car of the Year Family Car Category, continuing its award-winning streak.
