newautopost Views

Despite their relatively high cost, there are surprisingly affordable models of electric cars on the market
By 2024, six of the most affordable electric cars will be available

A few years ago, consumers had far fewer choices regarding electric vehicles. The main hurdle to purchasing an electric car was likely its high price. However, the recent launch of high-performance yet affordable electric vehicles is capturing the hearts of consumers.

Here are some of the most affordable electric cars projected for 2024. The Nissan Leaf is considered the most affordable, can be purchased for about $33,600), and has a driving range of about 400km (approximately 248.5 miles) at a single charge.

6th place: Nissan Leaf (approximately $33,600)
5th place: Mini Cooper Electric (approximately $36,800)

The Nissan Leaf is the most affordable electric car in 2024. The car is priced at about $33,600, and the 2024 model comes equipped with a CCS adapter, making it possible to charge at more stations. The model with a small battery can drive about 214km (approximately 133 miles), and the model with a more significant battery option offers a driving range of about 400km (approximately 248.5 miles).

The Mini Cooper SE electric model looks very similar to the internal combustion model, but it is said to drive more quietly and smoothly. The car is priced at about $36,800, which is relatively affordable, but the biggest drawback is that its driving range is only about 183km (approximately 113.7 miles).

4th place: Hyundai Kona EV (approximately $39,200)
3rd place: Fiat 500e (approximately $39,300)

The Hyundai Kona Electric has been redesigned for the 2024 model, offering more interior space.

The Kona Electric SEL model uses a 201-horsepower motor and a 64.8kWh battery, offering a driving range of about 418km (approximately 259.7 miles).

The Fiat 500e, which was recently launched as an electric model in 2024, has maintained Fiat’s unique modern appearance and has become the biggest competitor to the Mini Hatchback SE. It costs about $39,300 and can drive about 240km (approximately 149.1 miles) on a single charge. The Fiat 500e was also launched in the U.S. as the Red Edition, boasting a bright red exterior paint and chic black 24-spoke wheels.

2nd place: Chevrolet Equinox EV (approximately $40,300)
1st place: Volvo EX30 (approximately $41,700)

The Chevrolet Equinox, set to be released in 2024, is expected to be priced at about $40,300. The Equinox has a single-motor front-wheel-drive powertrain that delivers 210 horsepower and 33kgf.m of torque.
