Following the release of the Macan EV, Porsche is once again looking to make its mark with an SUV. The company is reportedly developing the 7-seater flagship K1 electric SUV (codenamed), which is larger than the Cayenne and features a third row. The K1 test mule, set for a 2023 launch, was recently spotted.
Despite being three years away from its launch, the fact that the test mule has already been sighted is a surprise. Of course, being a test mule, significant changes to its exterior design are expected. The side door trim has structures intentionally added to conceal the design, leading to speculation about the K1’s final look.
4-line LED daytime running lights
Angular front design
The foreign media outlet Kolesa recently released a concept image of the K1. The overall design is similar to the Macan EV. The top lamp revealed in the spy shots was identical to the Macan, and some design elements are expected to be shared, which is reflected in the concept image. The concept image features horizontal 4-line LED daytime running lights similar to the Macan EV on top.
Below, separate headlamps made up of high and low beams are applied. The trapezoidal, angular box line gives it an aggressive look. The hood line arches down long. The angular parting line and the lower bumper fascia design also contribute to the aggressive look.
Sturdy side line shape
Application of horizontal tail lamps
The sides feature regular door handles. The belt line rises towards the third row, narrowing the side windows. The design becomes sleeker towards the rear. The roofline gently slopes down, creating a sturdy crossover shape. A rear spoiler protruding over the rear glass adds sportiness.
The rear features long horizontal tail lamps. This was also applied to the Macan EV, but the sides have been made thinner. The tailgate has added angular lines for a 3D effect. The high-set tail lamps are attached to the rear glass. The rear glass sharply descends to match the vertical rear line, emphasizing the sturdy design with its angular rectangular shape.
Expected performance: over 1,000 horsepower
Scheduled for release in 2027
The K1 is designed based on Volkswagen Group’s next-generation electric vehicle platform, SSP (Scalable Systems Platform). Its dual-electric motor system is expected to deliver a combined total output of over 1,000 horsepower. Additionally, it is forecast to offer a driving range of over 700km (roughly 435 miles) with a single full charge thanks to a large-capacity battery. The K1 is scheduled for release in 2027, and the price is reported to exceed 300 million won (approximately $250,000).
