Vehicle maintenance costs that cannot be ignored
Among the many vehicle brands
Which brand has the highest maintenance cost?

Consumer Reports, a leading American consumer media outlet, published data on vehicle maintenance cost rankings by brand. Consumers also showed great interest because maintenance costs are a condition that is highly considered when purchasing a vehicle.

Some brands are known to have high maintenance costs even after purchasing a vehicle, so you must be careful when purchasing. High parts prices also lead to increased maintenance costs, but can also be interpreted as problems such as frequent breakdowns or durability.

Cost increases after three years
What is the maintenance cost for Hyundai vehicles?

Most manufacturers provide warranty repairs initially, so there are relatively few significant costs over the next few years. However, according to the analysis, related costs rise sharply after three years, when most warranty periods expire. The brand with the lowest maintenance costs was found to be Tesla.

Tesla’s electric vehicle was found to cost $580 to maintain between 1 and 5 years, and the cost rose to $4,035 (about 5.56 million won) between 5 and 10 years. Hyundai costs $1,140 for 1 to 5 years and $4,500 (about 6.2 million won) for 5 to 10 years. It was at the bottom of the overall ranking, with significantly lower maintenance costs.

The cost of a Kia vehicle between 1 and 5 years was $1,450, more than 25% higher than Hyundai’s.

The 3 German brands had similar total amounts
There is a difference in initial cost

Three German brands took 5th to 3rd place. BMW, ranked 5th, cost $9,500 over ten years, Audi’s cost was $9,890, and Mercedes-Benz cost $10,525.

There was no significant difference between BMW and Audi, but there was a problem with Mercedes-Benz, which ranked third. There is no considerable difference in the overall cost over ten years, but the price between 1 and 5 years was $1,700 for BMW, while it was $2,850 for Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, this difference is more than a thousand dollars.

Land Rover’s Infamous Reputation
Surpassing Porsche to Take First Place

Second place was Porsche, at $4,000 from 1 to 5 years and $10,000 from 5 to 10 years, for a total cost of $14,000. As a brand that sells expensive sports cars and supercars, it seems natural that the costs are high. However, there is a number one brand that surpasses Porsche and has attracted consumers’ attention.

1st place is Land Rover. Land Rover’s cost was $4,250 for 1 to 5 years and $15,000 for 5 to 10 years, higher than Porsche’s for all researched periods. In particular, Land Rover is notorious in South Korea for frequent minor breakdowns. Land Rover ranked first, with various failures occurring in the engine and different electronic equipment.
