Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration was held at the Kremlin in Moscow. This marked Putin’s 5th inauguration, solidifying his 30-year reign. Another notable point at the grand inauguration ceremony was to announce his extended term.
The car Putin arrived in drew people’s attention. When gifted to Kim Jong Un of North Korea, Putin rode an Aurus Senat, which had previously been a hot topic. Kim Jong Un, who received the car as a gift from Putin, showed great satisfaction sitting in it.
New Model Launched for the Inauguration
Only Putin Will Drive It Until the Official Launch
Putin’s car drew attention not just because of its appearance. The vehicle prepared for this occasion is a facelifted model explicitly made for Putin’s inauguration. This was possible because Aurus, the brand that produces the Senat, is a joint venture between the Russian state-owned Central Automobile Engine Research Institute and Porsche.
Porsche only participated in engine design, while the Russian Central Automobile Engine Research Institute handled the rest. As a brand created under Putin’s directive for a national ceremonial vehicle, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say everything was tailored for Putin from the start. The new Senat is scheduled for release in Russia in 2025. Until then, it’s a car that only Putin can enjoy.
Design Changes for the New Model
Even More Luxurious Grill
The new Senat has changed its exterior design. The grill’s spacing was widened more than before, and its shape changed from a near-right angle line to a trapezoidal slant. The chrome line at the top of the grill has been smoothed out for a modern look.
The headlamps are thinner than the previous model, which had a thick size that exuded heaviness. The interior features horizontally emphasized daytime running lights in an “L” shape and matrix LED technology. The taillights at the rear are more extended than before, reaching the tailgate. The license plate positioned between the tailgate was also moved.
Putin’s Car Performance is This Good
Even Has Bulletproof Features
A trapezoidal indentation was added to the bumper to accommodate the license plate. Thanks to this, the tailgate has a smoother shape, and the horizontal line that used to break in the middle now extends long between the taillights. The Senat operates on a hybrid system, combining an electric motor with a 4.4-liter V8 gasoline turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 598 horsepower. It also features a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The car body is equipped with bulletproof features for protection from external attacks.
